What do you think of Mike North joining Ed Farmer on radio broadcasting White Sox?

Its Mike North, when he says "huge surprise" or "big announcement" it usually turns out to be nothing. I suspect he is going to announce that he will be appearing at Chili's for the next 5 weeks giving away dog biscuits.

But they get along so well. Great chemistry.

So now every raging meatball caller that Ranger gets will be condensed into Farmer's partner in the booth. Sox fans must be excited over this amazing news.

A few Months ago I predicted North would replace Rongey as the pre & post game host. I still think this role fits Mike better than analyst, but having said that, I will listen to White Sox games just for the entertainment value. This could be the most entertaining White Sox radio broadcast team since Harry & Jimmy.
DJ sucks & has no business being employed as a baseball analyst, so good riddance.

Besides being bad at radio, DJ never caught on & didn't build a following as the White Sox color analyst. Most White Sox fans that I know cant stand him. North is a PR move who will bring increased visibility to the White Sox radio games & most certainly will lead to an increase in listeners.

Do you really believe that? I don't think it will have any effect at all. Nobody who isn't interested in the White Sox is going to listen simply because Mike North is in the booth. And those of us who enjoy the broadcasts- like Frank, bigfan, and myself- will continue listening regardless.

It's tough for me to imagine what it might sound like. I enjoy the broadcasts because the Sox are my team. We suffered through Early Wynn. We can suffer through Mike North.

Without knowing the full details of how this will be structured, there will be a period of novelty interest that will probably best benefit The Score. If North is to fully replace DJ, then it will be a return to the car wreck that was the MNMS in its final months. One great thing about this move will be dumping Farmer's inane approach to broadcasting where he continually asks past performance questions of his partner. Then again, he might stick to form and Mike will draw upon his experience playing softball and equivalate it to MLB.

I think eventually a new phrase will be coined. After a late charter out of Oakland to play a make-up game in the east, Mike will be forced to speak and think and in the process Sox fans will hear on their radio "dumb air."
