 Welcome to CoF's basketball thoughts.

I think based on my "crazy" NBA thoughts alone you should just put me on ignore.

I kinda know what you're trying to say. I don't agree completely, but I know what you mean.

I just think you had a certain perception of him when he was a rookie and you haven't been able to let go of it. He has made leaps and bounds of improvement as a pro over the last 5 years or so. He's not the same big lanky, spastic guy flailing away uncontrollably in the post. Or the guy with stone hands who couldn't catch a chest pass. He's a good basketball player.

Not on your life. I always enjoy the chuckle I get when you post about the NBA. Occasionally you have a decent baseball thought, but basketball is always good for a laugh.

he HAS become a much better NBA player. He still to me looks like the 35 yr old rec player who certainly can play but doesn't look graceful doing it.

You know what bugs me? The Clippers constantly feeding Blake Griffin in the post. I really like watching clipper basketball and they had a great game last night but they're not going to be fully dangerous until Griffin can consistently hit that free throw line extended jumper. He does that and they can run hi/lo sets with DeAndre Jordan. I LOVE DeAndre Jordan even though he's an airhead. How's that for a contradiction?

Agreed, I see what he's getting at but my idea of playing basketball just b/c you're tall is Hasheem Thabeet.

hilarious. You hated my "center field is an easier defensive position than LF or RF" argument. I've head coached basketball at two different high schools, varsity level. I'm a baseball novice, although obviously I run a league.

DeAndre is playing significantly better and smarter this season than in the past. Hopefully he sustains it.

Here is the difference. I can admit I was wrong. I am wrong a lot. I was not happy when the Bulls selected Noah, I thought it was a waste of a pick on a goof. But he has proven me wrong.

CoF cannot ever admit he was just wrong. He always has to qualify his statements and continue to bring up any point he could possibly grasp on to somehow prove to all of us he was right all along.

We are all wrong around here at times. No shame in that. Just own it.

read a lil further back in this here thread. I believe I have admitted I was wrong about Noah. Also for no reason Tayshon Prince.

But you always do it with qualifying statements and then right here in the last page or two you bring up stats about Noah to again try to show us all how you were right all along.

Just admit you were completely wrong and move along.

Thank you. Now tell us about this head coaching experience you had. How many games did you coach and what was your record?

this is already on the board elsewhere but:

2004: 2-5 (came in as a replacement coach)

2006: 11-4

Now before I get too far down the road, I will state that these were both private high schools. However, I coached two kids who went on to D2 ball and against a kid who played for the Irish, I believe (Rick Cornett?)

In all fairness to RFDC, I thought the same thing about both Tyrus and Eddy Curry.

well, I can't use that excuse for Shannon Brown. He would be a star on the Suns by now by my predictions.

Cool. Did you only coach a partial season in 2006 as well? Don't most teams ahve more than 15 games

We had games against teams up by the Iowa border that were cancelled and never made up. Therefore they never came out to play us (Tri-State School or something). Add that to a few other cancellations and it would have been a 21 game schedule, I think. The next year they changed the conference to add more teams. We also played 3-4 games in postseason play.

Everything physical. Strength, speed, hand-eye coordination, jumping, stamina, etc. But when I say Cousins I mean more raw basketball potential than raw athletic ability, although I think they are similar. Cousins can also handle the ball, he can pass, he can hit jumpers, he has great hands. There's no reason at all for a guy like him to have a FG% anywhere close to as low as it is. In terms of combination of raw talent and raw athleticism Cousins is top 5 in the league. He's just an idiot and has a temper and attitude problem and most likely will never put it all together on the court. If he does, he will be a dominant player.
