Hey. Nobody tell Kirkwood that his pictures never work. Lets see how long he'll keep doing it.

I can't battle it anymore...HOCKEY IS AWESOME. The problem is that I am really late to the game on this. I don't know the rules very well. I cannot name any of the players. Also the "buy in" for the sport is a pretty steep price. This leaves me just kind of liking it from afar hoping one of my kids will pick up the game so I can follow it.

Other than that it really teaches itself!

How about some unwritten rules?

- Don't shoot the puck after a whistle
- Don't "snow" a goalie
- Don't question shakes
- Don't allow a player to get in the face of your goalie.

Wrong on these.

This is the job description of "NHL Commissioner" on Careerbuilder.com.

This is a written rule. Burrows did this against the Hawks and got 2 for unsportsmanlike.

Can you or someone explain to me then the jokes behind hockey racism? Is it just a joke because the vast majority of the players and fans are white or do you guys really feel this way?

I really don't like how Danny Mac will spend a majority of his show talking hockey, and then will talks about basketball with so much snark.

I've never heard him do the bolded part.
More than 2 hours of a single show? Or more than 2.5 days/week?
Doesn't happen.

Majority of his show spent on:

-Rolling Stones? yes.
-Wagering? yes.
-Harry Tiny? yes.
-Weed? yes.
-His old station(s)? yes.
-My basement is better than yours? yes.
-Grilling meat/The Gout? yes.

He talks about hockey more than most (love it), but let's not get crazy. He never spends the majority talking hockey.

*And this concludes Spanky's bi-weekly :drunken: CSFMB Friday night posting.

Go fuck yourself you hypocritical fucking asswipe. You do realize that you coach Alexander Ovechkin right?
Being only slightly hyperbolic when I say this was the most amazing goal Ive seen scored in a game. Heres Oates' comments

San Jose Sharks rookie Tomas Hertl received plaudits for scoring a stunning goal Tuesday against the New York Rangers.
However, not everyone was a fan of the between-the-legs shot that capped Hertl's four-goal night.
Washington Capitals coach Adam Oates took a shot Hertl on Thursday, saying the 19-year-old's move was showboating that has no business in the NHL.
"Don't disrespect the league," Oates said, according to the Washington Post. "I'm sure it was a rookie mistake."
Oates added, "I'm upset. I was just talking to (Capitals general manager) George (McPhee) and he said all the kids do that nowadays, which I understand. But would he have done it on his first goal? He hasn't scored yet tonight and he gets a breakaway, is he going to do that on his breakaway? We'll see.
Hertl's dramatic goal gave the Sharks an 8-2 lead at 12:05 of the third period, and the rookie did not play in the remainder of San Jose's 9-2 win.
"I think it was a little bit of a mood thing, which I'm sure they talked about, because they didn't play him after that," Oates said. "I'm glad the coach did that because this league, it will bite you if you're not sharp."
Boston Bruins coach Claude Julien viewed Hertl's goal from the opposite perspective.
"It was a pretty nice goal," Julien said, according to CSNNE.com. "I was just saying this morning that it's pretty unfortunate when there's a good hit in hockey, there seems to be players wanting revenge for a nice, clean hit. When a player scores a nice, pretty goal, the first thing that comes out of people's mouth is, 'Was he hot-dogging it?'
"It was a nice goal that he scored, so let's accept it. ... Hey, if he scores, it's a goal for his team ... big deal. I don't think we should be mad about those kinds of things if they're allowed in our game."

and heres a link to the goal http://youtu.be/z-a-XPZqYIw

And here's why hockey is great.

Joe Thornton on Sharks rookie Tomas Hertl: ‘I’d have my c--- out’ if I scored four goals
BY PAT LEONARD / NEW YORK DAILY NEWS
THURSDAY, OCTOBER 10, 2013, 5:20 PM

ANAHEIM — You think the Rangers' 9-2 loss Tuesday night to the Sharks was shocking? Just be glad Joe Thornton didn't score four goals.

The San Jose captain bristled Thursday morning in Vancouver at the suggestion that rookie teammate Tomas Hertl had been showboating on his highlight-reel fourth goal against the Rangers, telling reporters that if it had been him, he would have whipped out more than a trick shot and goal celebration.

"I'd have my c--- out if I scored four goals," Thornton said to reporters, according to the Vancouver Province.

Thornton, who has three career hat tricks, reportedly had overheard a writer's question to teammate Patrick Marleau on whether Hertl had been showboating. "Shut up, have you ever played the game?" Thornton reportedly said, before turning to the press and relating his graphic alternative.

Hertl, 19, who leads the NHL with seven points and six goals, has faced some criticism in subsequent days for his between-the-legs flick of the puck over the shoulder of Rangers goalie Martin Biron to put San Jose up, 8-2, 12:05 into Tuesday's third period.

Sharks captain Joe Thornton sticks up for his rookie teammate, Tomas Hertl, and paints a shocking picture of what he’d do if he scored three goals.

"I'm upset," Washington Capitals coach Adam Oates told reporters Thursday morning about Hertl's goal, according to the Washington Post. "I was just talking to (Caps GM) George (McPhee), and he said all the kids do that nowadays, which I understand. But would he have done it on his first goal? (If) he hasn't scored yet tonight and he gets a breakaway, is he going to do that on his breakaway? We'll see.

"I think it was a little bit of a mood thing, which I'm sure they talked about, because they didn't play him after that," Oates continued. "I'm glad the coach did that because this league, it will bite you if you're not sharp. Don't disrespect the league. I'm sure it was a rookie mistake."

Oates is correct that Sharks coach Todd McLellan did not play Hertl the rest of the game after his trick-shot goal, perhaps fearing retribution. However, in three days since, none of the Rangers have said a word about Hertl's goal.

Many NHL players agree with Devils goalie Cory Schneider, who told the Bergen Record on Thursday morning that he doesn't care how a player shoots the puck at him; it's a goalie's job to stop it.

After all, if enough goals are scored — as Thornton explained — anything could happen.
