Who brought those to the 1st "thanksgiving"? The Natives or the Pilgrims?

There is no upside. The food is the "highlight" and most of the food sucks.

Turkey :puker:
Sweet Potatoes :puker:
Cranberries :puker:

Driving long distances to hang out with extended family that you can't stand for 362 days/year :puker: :puker:

Keep it.

Yep!

I do like Turkey & Stuffing. We are going out this year to Coopers Hawk. No fuss,no mess and then to my mother-in-laws for desert and forced conversation.

Dude!!! Turkey is great, stuffing is great, the pies that the wifes family makes are great. Maybe you're just hanging out with the wrong family? They start drinking and eating 3 hours before the turkey even hits the table. I'm totally OK with that.

Yeah maybe I am hanging out with the wrong family. What time can I meet you and your family?

Turkey is about like chicken, only slightly gamier and slightly longer prep time. Again, gimme the upside to turkey?
Ham, chicken, beef, pork, shellfish, fish, > turkey
Drinking can be accomplished for hours on end during a lot of holidays.

4th of July > Thanksgiving by a mile. Better food, better weather, better drinking, better company usually.

You know that's true.

The 4th is my favorite holiday. Usually involves a parade, great "outdoor" food, babes in shorts with cleavage everywhere and watching free entertainment (former icons & bands from a different time)

My family?

I love the 4th more than probably any other Holiday and I won't deny that. Burgers, brats, hot dogs, potato salad, etc on top of ice cold beer and the weather and top it off with fireworks. Of course I'll take that. Thanksgiving is pretty kickass though with her family. They just drink and eat and watch football all day long. I can't complain about that.

I love that. I'm not arguing that. I do that most Saturdays and Sundays. A lot of people do.

Only I don't have to drive to hang out with my annoying ass family and eat gamey-ass chicken and other food I don't like.

Thanksgiving is over-clap, clap - rated.

I guess I'm not the only one who isn't keen on traditional Thanksgiving dinner. Thank god my cousin always cooks a tenderloin in addition to the turkey.

Stuffing is one of the greatest foods ever. It's the only holiday where my whole family is together. I love seeing them. There is no gift stress.

4th of July is hot and buggy. I'm not a parade fan.

Turkey - white and dark
Stuffing - shitloads
A trough-full of gravy
Rolls / Bikkits & butter
Carrots & Turnips (yes, I typed that)
Other small bits of odds and ends just to say you had some (incidental amounts)
Coke Zero
A little pumpkin pie to accompany your spoonfulls of Cool Whip (they make Sugar Free versions which I defy you to tell the difference from the regular stuff)

Repeat all day as you drift in and out of a food coma, dreaming about the fact that this day is essentially the realization of most religions' heavenly dreams (e.g., a great feast).

Free tip: Bring your own food containers to make taking leftovers home very easily ... you'll get heaps of high praise for being so forward thinking, which will distract them from the fact that you're trying to take everything but the oven home with you.

Easter is far and away the worst of the Holidays.

My moms stuffing recipe is awesome. We do a duck and turkey every year as well as the standard fare. I have introduced pierogis and rye bread as an appetizer. We usually do something unique for dessert instead of just pumpkin pie. This year we're making pumpkin cupcakes and a banana cream pie.

Pumpkin pie.

Port wine.

Never been a big fan of the Thxgiving feast. I'd be fine with a turkey club, side of sweet potatoes and a slice of Pumpkin pie. It's really about seeing some of my most favorite people in the world all in one place. It should be noted that none of these people are in fact my real family.

Shooting clay pigeons out in the country, drinking wine and smoking cigars. More like ATF Day.

How does pierogies and rye bread work?

We have turkey club stuff at our Thanksgiving dinner. Toast, tomatoes, lettuce and about 8 pounds of bacon.

The Score was advertising some company that cooks for you and they had chocolate pecan pie. That sounds better than pumpkin pie.

I don't know how but my grandma would kind of burn the top of the stuffing every single year but she did it on purpose and it always turned out outstanding. Other members in my family always tried to do it but they could never master how she did it. Man I miss that.

Last year we had both regular oven roasted turkey and smoked turkey. I'm hoping this year we get a repeat of that. Wifey is making apple pie as well. Seriously how can you not like this day Spanky?

I've been food poisoned twice by family thanksgiving dinners. I still enjoy the day but now enjoy it alone with my wife and no longer attend the huge family gathering. I will give my grandma a pass on the first food poisoning because she was probably too old to be making the dinner but the next year at my aunt and uncle's house does not get a pass.
