I read somewhere that ESPN takes in over 8 billion in revenue. Why? Cuz their brand works for the non thinking sports fan. Non thinking sports fan rule this world. You really think they'll want a Bernstein in their Chicago radio market. For what? Even if he does well with his "Fuck You" radio, what does that mean to their bottom line over CJH? 100k? Maybe 200k gross revenue per year? That's tops. It's not guarenteed since he won't be the Score type Bernstein. That's a drop in the bucket to them. They'd take the "ESPN type" over that small gain. ESPN is about branding.

If they decide to can Carm or Silvy, they'd replace him with Jeff Dickerson. He's been a loyal soldier to ESPN for years. He's a safe, "milk and cookies" type of broadcaster that they'd want. JD, Carm, Silvy: Those type of guys are what ESPN wants for their local markets.
