The recent drafting of quarterback Kevin Kolb could mean that Donovan McNabb will be traded before the 2007 season. A few observers have opined that McNabb will be moved after the coming season. But here's a scenario that has him moving before September. The Bears are ready to win the Super Bowl. This scenario obviously depends on two things. One, that McNabb is physically ready to play on Week 1 of the 2007 season. Two, that Chicago is convinced McNabb is their best available QB option.

I'd take him over Rex even if he was only 85% - 90% healthy.

why the hell would Philly start a rookie QB with the talent they have on that team. This makes no sense, but if we have Mcnabb I would subsequently shit myself with excitement.

kelly holcomb or aj feeley would be the starter and thereby take them out of any serious contention no matter how stacked their team is

What do you guys think of what Tommie Harris said? Even though they say it wasn't serious, I tend to believe that Tommie would rather have McNabb than Rex. I think the Bears should get some balls and see what it would take to make that trade happen.

My Bears media guide from last year says that Tommie Harris plays defense. Unless I was on vacation and missed an announcement that he is joining Devin Hester on offense, Harris should just worry about his side of the ball.

I don't know, that other side of the ball cost him a ring last year.

If he selfishly hadn't have gotten hurt maybe Harris would have his ring.

I think the comments were, at least partly, tongue in cheek. Remember the TO-Favre imbroglio last year?

Sorry Coach, I know the defense didn't perform as well as they should have but they were out on the field for about 55 minutes. The defense did not have a great game but the offense was brutal, especially Rex. Right or wrong that was my feeling watching the game.

agreed. the offense could have made the defense look a lot better.

NOT WRONG.
ifs and buts and candy and nuts. if Benson didn't fumble, if Gilmore didn't fumbel, if Manning hadn't blown coverage, if...if...if...

you cannot assume that the outcome would have been different either way. however, if the bears don't fumble and score TD's, the game COULD have been much different.

that's all i'm sayin'

In my mind Rex's interception pretty much sealed the deal for them. There were many other contributing factors Benson, Gilmore, Rex fumbles, giving up on the run, a tired defense, piss poor gaming planning again, blown coverage, etc but I think it was that last interception that killed them. Bears were still in the game at that point and that took them out of it.

Nas why do you love Rex so much? I don't hate him nor am I a HUGE fan but whay do you love him?

Defense looked pourous from Harris' injury forward, and I still believe Rivera's search for a head coaching job was a HUGE distraction. He interviewed the week before the Seattle playoff game and then ran around with Jerry Jones the week before the super bowl. That had to affect game planning and preparation; in those games the defense looked especially bad.

I still think it was Lovie's defense. I don't know how much planning Rivera did anyway.

I couldn't figure that out either.

Exactly my thoughts. He was supposedly such a highly touted & qualified candidate, yet never got a job. Maybe he interviews poorly.

Apparently not enough, or he wouldn't be coaching the SD LB's.

Maybe he has the same headhunter as spmack.

Chico was getting the interviews so his head hunter was doing their job - when it comes down to it Chico just couldn't close.

I think Lovie might've been giving him weak recommendations behind the scenes.

Puddingheaded Loon - I like it.

I thought that for a while but it seemed the Bears were hoping Rivera would get a job from those interviews. Why would Lovie sabatoge that?

I've heard Hub and I think Mully (?) say that Lovie was giving good, not stellar recommendations, to support Rivera. They both say Lovie wasn't willing to put his own reputation on the line in endorsing Rivera. I don't think Lovie was intentionally undermining Rivera's cause as much as he was being honest from his point-of-view.
