Best young head football coach in the NFL. There isnt a Bears fan with a brain who wouldnt trade Lovie for Harbaugh. The contrast in coaching styles couldn't be more evident & opposite. One coach is activly engaged in every aspect of his team, offense, defense, special teams, he's on the field with the players, he's coaching players up...while the coach on the other side looks like a fucking dumbass who doesn't have a fucking clue.
I still can't believe the Bears told Harbaugh thanks for the interest in wanting to be the Bears head coach, but we have Lovie Smith.

Shouldn't this be in the drunken thread? It's one game. Let's whoa that thing.

Actually, its 3 games. Packers, Texans, Niners. Bears can beat lousy teams though.

Nice game against the Rams.

Packers - lost to SF, lost to Seattle, Lost to Indy, and barely beat Detroit
Texans - got smoked by GB, narrowly beat the Jaguars,
49ers - lost to Minny, lost to NYG, tied Stl

Chill out, yo. It's the NFL. So the Bears don't have the best record in the NFL. What the fuck does the NFL version of the President's Cup earn you? Not a god damn thing. Chill out. The Bears are still one of the better teams in the 2012 NFL. Your team lost to SF. Boo-fucking-hoo. They will be okay.

Agree -- I was holding off judgment on the Bears for the past two months waiting for this Texans-Niners series. The Texans game was close enough where I felt I could maybe give them the benefit of the doubt. The weather was bad, they lost Cutler and Campbell had to come in cold, and they were able to keep it pretty close where you could envision having a Cutler-Marshall hookup saving the day. Then came this game. There's nothing good to take from it; the way that OL protected Campbell wouldn't have improved with Cutler there all that much (though I do think Cutler would do a quicker job of recognizing the trouble and getting out of it.) You even got Jeffery back and that made no impact. I would expect the Bears to win both Vikings games, win against the Seahawks, win against the Cardinals, probably win against the Lions, and lose against the Packers. That would put them at 12-4 winning a wildcard (GB plays at the Giants which might be a toss-up but the rest of the way should be fairly easy.) Even if they split against the Vikings, they are still 11-5 and that's wildcard worthy. But they very well could end up back at SF for the first round.... I give the Bears about a 20% shot to get past the first round, and if they do, probably a 10% shot to get to the NFC Championship game. There's not a lot to be thrilled about on the offense, and it appears that with the right coaches, you can gameplan against this defense fairly effectively.

On the other hand, you might have something there in Kaepaeaernik... More than just a gimmick pistol player.

redskingreg, you are doing a good job of listing why other teams have done badly, but what did you see in this game (or the Houston game) that makes you feel the Bears are going to go far in the playoffs?

I saw the Texans suck a bag of dicks against Green Bay, the Packers suck a bag of cocks against the Colts, and the 49ers blow peckers against the Giants. Every team in the NFL has looked god awful on at least one occasion this year. The Texans have had the least amount of shitted-the-bed-games.

I didn't take anything from this game, as an outsider. Sure the D looked average. The Bears are a completely different team with Cutler. Sit him out until he's healthy. The Bears will be okay. Pick your chin up. No one is running away with the NFC this year.

the bears looked awful against green bay, houston, and SF. in two of those games, cutler was the starting QB.

they are not a different team with cutler. they struggled against the lions and panthers, too. offensively they are extremely inconsistent.

They absolutely are a different team.

With Cutler, there's a chance to win.

Without Cutler, there's no chance.

not when you have an O line like they have. SF played gritty on defense. cutler wouldn't have fared much better.

Cowher, Gruden or Payton would all be huge upgrades...but the Bears could have had Harbaugh. Unfortunately, Bears management is scared to death of aggressive personalities.

Harbaugh is 48. Definitely not the best if that's your criteria for young NFL coach:

Sean Payton (48)
Mike Tomlin (40)
Mike McCarthy (49)
John Harbaugh (50)

Nit-picky but gotta ease down on the Harbaugh love a bit.

Harbaugh is following the Ditka path to team burnout right down to the musical QB routine.

I doubt he gets a Super Bowl before complete meltdown.

The Bears have yet to beat a good team, a playoff team...I was waiting to see how they did against the Texans and Niners...this team is going to win 11 games and get spanked in the playoffs...And I think GB comes here and beats the Bears.

4 years ago I was saying HIRE THIS MAN NOW AS OC!

Even if I think he's being a dickwad with the QB situation.

I wonder if he remembers Chicago falling in love with his backup PT Willis after one half of a football game?

PT FREAKING WILLIS!

Couldn't disagree more. The Bears didn't lose against the Texans because of Lovie. He's the defensive guy. He has been all of his life. Expecting him to make offensive calls is silly. The Bears lost because their offense sucked. Cutler and Campbell looked bad. The 49ers game was a team loss. Obviously having Campbell look like he's never played QB in his life doesn't help. Tice is having the same play calling issue he had in Minnesota too.

Shock was how much better he looked than Alex Smith. That was a thing of beauty. I would seriously consider pulling the plug on Alex Smith too. Kaepernick makes them look like a complete team.

That's fine, but it's obviously high risk/high reward for one of the best teams in the league already.
