I guess it fits with "We need to get young pitching under control"

Maybe trade bait? Several teams would be foaming at the mouth at the deadline.

So, I, ah.......pending a blood test. Whatever. I think I like it. Digesting. Like BC, I didn't see this coming at all.

Theo does his best work under the radar. It's not as sexy a move as Jeff Keppinger would have been. But why the hell not. He's only going to be 29 next year.

No Jimmy he played a big role in the not to be worried about Tigers division win

They have 5 major league starters. 6 if you count Travis Wood. I don't.

EDITED: oops,i was looking at a bad stat site. ok,this sounds like a great move

A 1.27 WHIP to go along with a respectable (in the DH AL) ) 3.86 ERA...very good!

How is that any better than Dempster, Garza, Shark? Unlikely Sanchez will throw better than Dempster did before he was traded and they were 10 games under when that deal was made.

I was going to say, Jimmy, he went from 196.1 to 195.2. You're a tough crowd.

Excellent move.

If it means less Dustin Diamond and Gary Coleman starts this year then I am all for it. I don't think this is a move that guarantees them the division or anything but I don't know locking up the 2nd best starter on the market seems like it could be a good thing.

Anibal Sanchez's agent says no deal with Cubs yet

The agent for Anibal Sanchez, Gene Mato, told CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman that his client has yet to decide on a team, despite reports he'd agreed to a five-year, $75 million deal with the Cubs.

According to Heyman, the Tigers are still very much in play for the right-hander.

The Cubs also denied a deal has been made.

Alright, who's got the loose lips over at WCUB? Second time this year.

I'll take Crane Kenney spouts for $400 Alex.

Is he really that different from Grienke? I agree this sounds like a great deal for the Cubs if they can finalize it.

Which one of these was everybody's favorite move that ended up not really happening? I for one thought the Marmol for Haren deal was alot of fun.

Seems a bit premature to be spending this kind of money. They need to stay focused on drafting, aquiring and developing young talent, until they appear close enough for moves of this kind. Garza is likely to be dealt before the deadline, so thoughts of Garza, Sammy and Sanchez are off. Garza is not a top of the rotation, but a middle of the rotation guy. he will want far more than he's worth. I just hope he gets off to a great start, so they get a real good young prospect for him . 15 million a year for a guy that was 13-19 with an ERA just under 4???? Forget it. if they make the deal, it's a bad one.

Proving that yes this would be in fact an amazing deal for the Cubs if they can get it completed. Thank you for coming down from the mountaintop to give us your terrible bland sports knowledge.

This is going to make it really hard to lose 100 games next year. Theo's plan is failing. :(

Boers is coming off terrible

They're saying they can't contend til 15 like its a fact

If they do have Sanchez they're a few players away from contending for playoffs at least..

15 million for a pitcher isn't huge.

Bad day for Bernstein to be out

Yeah that's the thing.....75 M for 5 years for a pitcher isn't crazy or anything. Boers is pretty out of touch with reality. The Cubs aren't spending enough money!!!!! Don't spend so much money!!!!!

Talk about unexpected. Wonder if this is a precursor to some trades. did not expect the Cubs to make a signing like this until the Soriano money was off the books.
