Ok all you guys with your fancy schmancy beers. Here is the question... you and your friends are gonna have to pull a all Saturday or Sunday drink fest for some occasion. What is the beer you go to that you enjoy and can also drink a lot of? I happen to love a heffe weizen but more than two and I am a gas bag.

What style of beers do you like? IPA? Stout?

I find it difficult to go all night with high ABV beers. Probably because I have kids, and don't get to sleep in anymore.

I generally prefer Stouts and Porters, but obviously those are tougher if you are planning on throwing back a lot. I'd recommend a wheat beer. Two Brother's Ebel's Weiss or something of the like would be where I'd go.

That is one of the better wheat beers that I have had, but I can only have one or two. After that, the bananas and cloves become a bit much for me. And, it's only 4.9%, which isn't exactly a high ABV, it's more of a session beer.

Gumballhead is a good wheat beer, as well as Oberon by Bell's.

www.beeradvocate.com is a great place to learn about new beers.

If it's a big drinking night I'd probably go with Amstel Light

Do you extend your pinkie finger when you drink that?

No, I extend my arm.

I don't know if it is considered a high volume beer, but Harnas is 6% and I think it's pretty good.

Why would he ask that question? The answer would be whatever beer you are pouring down your gullet.

ABV is "alcohol by volume", why wouldn't that be his question?

Either way, Steel Reserve.

Thank you - that was a much needed laugh.

Sorry had to shop after asking this and should have waited I guess to post. I meant drinking a lot of beer nor alcohol by volume. An Amstel Light might fit. Miller Light no lol.

Thank you for this, by the way. You know, just in case anyone was unsure of the acronym.

Maybe somebody didn't know that. In any beer thread, I'm just trying to help someone find some new beers that they may enjoy, or answer any questions that I can. As opposed to you, who adds nothing but smart ass comments. Since craft beer drinkers are so pretentious, why are you even here?

Pitt Mike, now that I understand your question a little better, I will do my best today to come up with some good beers that you can drink, when you are looking to saddle up and ride.

Here are a few off the top of my head:

Sam Adams Boston Lager
Blue Moon
Fat Tire
Newcastle

I will see if I can dig a little deeper.

If i know its gonna be a long night then its mexican beer for me. Taste good, give me a great buzz and i can drink all night

If you wanna call it an early night the try Lagunitas Maximus. I found that out the hard way

Our local haunt has Rolling Rock on tap for $0.10 per ounce. Nice, light beer that doesn't hammer your melon the next day and doesn't empty the wallet. Most rice based beer like Bud give me a hangover, and if I am going to pay the bucks for one of the aforementioned craft brews, I want to drink them slowly and enjoy the taste, not hammer them down.

Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold is another one I can drink if it's gonna be a marathon. But i'm gonna stick with Tire Bite for a "I could drink this all day" type craft beer.

Any American Pale Ale that isn't a hop bomb would work.

Rolling Rock is horse piss and not fashionable in these parts since Bud took them over
