I'm supposed to go to my Christmas party in a couple of hours. Right now, I can think of nothing more I'd rather do than to go home and spend the evening painting Christmas ornaments with my kids. I'm at my happiest when I'm with my family anyway, but this stupid shooting thing has me mentaly exhausted. I want to take advantage of free booze and food (believe me), but I'm not really in a party mood right now. People will probably be pissed at me for......uh-hum....backing out at the last minute. But, shit....

Go early. Booze quick and heavy. Sample the food to make sure it is edible for the arriving entourage. Be the greeting committee as folks walk in. Make sure to press the flesh with whomever is in a hire/fire position. Once the last key member walks in, grab a road beverage and stealthy head for the nearest exit and go home. Or just go home.

I don't think anybody needs an excuse for wanting to spend more time with their loved ones. Most of the work parties I have ever been to are lame as shit anyway.
