So a player can't actually want to bring a title to the town in which he plays? You think Lebron wanted to bring one to Cleveland?

Bears fans "can't go anywhere" according to Dan. They have to watch and pay for tickets and buy Bears' gear.

The fans can't go anywhere!!!!!

What?

They can choose to spend discretionary income on something else or another team.

Um, ever heard of the Internet Sunday ticket?

Physical limitations don't matter. If I don't like the product, I can consume another organizations product.

Isn't he always stressing that because the NFL TV experience is so superior that ticket sales are declining?

Well, he isn't held accountable by superiors or by the market, so of course they would be.

What a pathetic display of carrying water for a millionaire. And we have four more hours! Has anyone spoken ill of a McCaskey lately?

I hope they don't puss out when talking to Hub about this Urlacher topic because yesterday Hub told Mac & Spiegs that he was deeply offended by the comments. My guess is they'll giggle, sigh, say they think the comment doesn't matter and then move on.

Who actually thinks the players think about them or represent them?

I gotta PTFB until 5pm. Bernstein annoys me to no end - everything about the pompous, smug, hypocritical ass is irritating to my being.

Dan Bernstein's Restaurant

"How was your meal?"
"It was okay, but there was a curly black hair in my soup."
"So?"
"What do you mean 'so.' That's gross."
"Why do you even care? How does that really matter? Do you know how hard our investors worked to open this place? and you're worried about your meal?"
"I don't doubt that they did work hard, but--"
"Dismiss yourself. Just go."
"I want to speak to your manager."
"Fine!"

"HEY GUYS WHAT'S GOING ON HERE I THINK THIS IS GREAT SERVICE AND THIS IS WHAT PEOPLE COME HERE FOR!"

"I'm never coming back to this restaurant again."
"Yes you will. It doesn't matter what you think. There's nowhere else you can go."
'Yes there is!"
"NO. THERE. ISN'T."

There's no one to like here and you can't trust any of these athletes. Except Derrick. Derrick is different. Maybe. But probably not. But Derrick.

Of course it's some loaf from Wisconsin who just doesn't understand booing. They wouldn't boo Aaron Rodgers if he fucked their wives.

These negative asswipes are such a pleasant holiday listen. The players despise us, and we don't care when they blow they're brains out from CTE. Gotcha! What the fuck happened to Terry's Yule log?

Can someone explain the "this isn't St. Louis or Jacksonville" and "this isn't Des Moines" lines I heard? In the context they were used, it felt like they are expecting fans in Chicago to be smarter, but I'm having a hard time telling for sure.

I think it was seconds after I wrote that that Dan said Brian Urlacher not caring what we think is just like Alinea not caring what we think. It's always nice when we can use sports talk to name-drop five-star restaurants in our defenses of highly compensated endorser-athletes. It's like listening to folk music about how Department of Defense bureaucrats are highly credentialed professionals who know what they're doing and we have no business complaining. Maybe Dan should tell Virginia McClaskey this isn't Jacksonville or Green Bay.

Dan's getting really testy that someone would dare poke holes in his "no one can ever like another NFL team" theory, here on CBS Radio, broadcast partner of the Chicago Bears across multiple radio properties.

How is it a novel idea that fans like to feel a personal connection to the team they root for? Isn't that the basic essence of being a fan? Otherwise, why would you even give a shit who won or lost? Just by the city they happen to play in?

How would New York react if Derek Jeter said what Urlacher said?

Would New Yorkers not care, you know because they play "big boy baseball" in NYC?

No. Only the Chicago Strawmen are stupid, immature, childish and naive. Every single last motherfucking one. How does Dan know? Well, two columns were written and a caller called in yesterday to the Mac and Meat Show to e press his angst.

The only way to know for sure how to react is to consult Theo. He's all things big-boy.

The Sean Jensen segment has been fairly informative, but that just might be because we're not talking about Urlacher. This one's in the burn-the-tape level of terrible.

My evidence is pretty anecdotal but I think the NFL lends itself to being the easiest league to be a fan of an out-of-town team. Just from my group of friends at Indiana we had Packers fans from NYC, St Louis, Milwaukee and Calgary. The 16 game schedule and great national TV exposre on Sunday/Monday allows for people to easily invest and pay attention to their far flung team. Shit, following the Blackhawks in central Indiana was a damn chore between blacked out NHL Network games and grainy internet feeds. Also, Madden has had quite an impact as I had a few friends that became Raiders, Bucs and Eagles fans simply b/c they were their favorite team to play with.

Amazing that Danny is getting belligerent with callers over this. I mean this show really has taken on an unfortunate tone. They were always argumentative but this is something different.

I would need medication to listen to this show anymore. It makes me miserable. I'm a surly prick after sitting through the afternoon show. Im starting to suspect my wife knows when I do.
