It really is great. Dan has to act like Hub's the expert while clearly believing that he, Dan, is himself the expert. Meanwhile, neither knows fuck-all about the NFL, and we all get to benefit. Good radio!

Did you hear the show today? This is the best they've been.

A couple years ago, Hawk went on an epic ump-bashing rant with Frank Thomas subbing for Stone (it may have been the Buehrle ejection--OKC has it on his channel somewhere). When they replayed it, Dan, Terry, and Jason all agreed that it never would have happened if there had been an adult like Stone in the room. Same principle applies to our heroes and any so-called "expert" guest.

I don't know for sure if it was the prompt responses, the ability to question their sources, or just his overall condescending tone but after several hours of these two jerking each other off as to how great and right they are it was nice to hear Hub's nut punches. Just a series of short, quick, and accurate punches to their nuts with each response, from Urlacher to Cutler and beyond.

Leery has swiftly gone from indignation with Urlacher and the Bears in general to saying they can easily make the playoffs and probably will. Interesting.

Lance must have had a little talk with him down at Cuvee.

Can someone explain to me the context of today's show so I don't have to stream it? How did the tone shift from yesterday's show where the question was, "Why do you care what Bears players think/you know that Bears players don't actually care what you think" to, "Brian Urlacher died on the cross for you mouth breathers so show some respect." In Uncle Teary parlance, wha happen?

They paint themselves into rhetorical corners when they have to be on the opposite side of the great unwashed on every single issue. To cede any ground short of "Brian Urlacher gave you his soul" is to have a shred of commonality with a meatball. In the Dan Bernstein School of Sports Debate, once you admit that maybe one ought not to shit where one eats, why, you're just a hop, skip, and a jar of giardiniera away from demanding that Brian Urlacher show up at your daughter's dance recital as a show of fealty to The Fans That Pay His Salary.

But that position doesn't make sense to me. How is arguing that Brian Urlacher "gave his soul" to the franchise any different than some idiot caller pining for the good ole days where white guys played running back, people didn't drink water in training camp, and people cutting off parts of their fingers so they could play more ball?

I'd be interested in hearing what separates The Guys who Give You A Piece of Their Soul from The Guys Who Just Show Up For Another Day at the Office. Something about CTE, no doubt.

It doesn't make sense. That's just it. They're forced into saying really dumb shit just because they don't want to be anywhere in the vicinity of other dumb shit. Unfortunately, sports talk is a veritable minefield of terrible opinions and observations, so it's just a matter of where you want to find your severed limb.

I was listening and I agree with B&B. I'm not outraged at his opinion on fans. Just more ear noise. I don't really care what Urlacher says about booing. Tough shit if he doesn't like it. As far as what he "gave",I think he has become very rich for that. I hope he lives a long time but these guys make a contract with the devil and they know it.

Except, apparently Dan's position is that you shouldn't boo Brian Urlacher because he's given so much to you (a/k/a the idiot fan).

I'll always treasure those 7-9 or 9-7 seasons that Brian Urlacher spent his soul to give me.

In 2003, R.W. McQuarters also sounded off on the booing fans following an ugly home loss to the Packers (9/29 Soldier Field reopening). Bernstein had a completely different reaction. He said the fans have the right to boo whomever they want.

Didn't R.W. wear a band-aid on his face every game? He couldn't have been grindy enough to give his soul.

Well, I'm thumbing through my Catalogue of Stolen Souls here and I don't see him in the M section anywhere. I do see "Martin, George," which precludes me from complaining about the production of non-Let It Be Beatles albums, and "Monet, Claude," which really locks me into appreciation of Impressionism whether I like it or not, but I don't see anything here for "McQuarters, R.W." And no, before you ask, he's not misfiled in the Qs, either; all I have in there is "Quinn, Jonathan," which if nothing else explains his lifeless play with the Bears.

It doesn't. I had a literal LOL at my desk when Terry spewed that BS.

Yes. "Gave his soul" sounds eerily similar to "fire and passion." Just saying.

Or the band-aid could represent the giving of his soul, a la Marcellus Wallace.

I also got a kick out of the guys going after David Haugh and whoever the hell else dared to write a column about Urlacher and what he said.

Terry going on and on about "Why don't you idiots write about what is goin' on with the Bears? Huh? Like what the mood is in the locker room or what is going on with Tice?"

And then going on to slam them for writing drivel and pandering non-sense which made me LOL after seeing these two morons constantly pandering to Bowen, whoever their legal expert is, whichever players cock they are sucking, (it was Urlacher today)blowing the writer from Green Bay, jerking Darren Rovel off, and so on and so forth.

And, of course, Terry lecturing ANYONE on writing a column of substance or really getting to the nuts and bolts of <insert team here> is just fucking laughable coming from that old, worthless windbag.
