My favorite Norm moment was when he was on AM 1000 with Lance McCalister. A caller and he were basically in a screaming match. The caller just about dropped the N word. Norm said, "Go ahead and say it! I'll come through this phone and strangle your ass!!!"

I really miss NVL. :(

They used to do afternoon drive up the dial, long before ESPN Radio bought the station in 1998 & when Lance McAlister hosted a show called "Sports Page" every night @ 9P in the early years of CLTV. At last check, McAlister is a host in Cincinnati on ESPN Radio there, as well as pregame host of the WLW/Reds Radio Network.

This is some riveting #covertwotalk and all, but I think I might appreciate a subject change in the near future.

The Ben Stein-looking Gerry DiNardo from BTN joins the guys @ 4P, unless there's a surprise along the way as Bernsy always says at the start of every show.

They said they'd go easy on the jargon and they've been worse than ever. I liked it better when Dan didn't fall into the "knowing things that are difficult makes you smart" trap of football garble.

They are talking a little NBA right now, if that's any help.

Think about how good Kevin Garnett would have been in the Cover 2.

Matt Bowen played for the Washington Redskins.

Getting fouled in the NBA hurts.

Yes that segment dragged for quite a bit.

Basketball is sooooooo hard that most players get drunk and high after the games and the day before games and also work out every day.

Man, we got a "when I played for Washington" and "when I played for the Bills" within 1 minute.

They need that alcohol to dull the searing pain of getting fouled.

 They get fouled so hard that virtually every NBA superstar has a 15 year career and most of the major injuries they have aren't contact injuries but simply a knee being blown out while running.

I'm shocked that Bowen, who saw teammates get injuries that never fully heal every season isn't calling Dan insane.

But look at their feet!

Dan Hampton would point at their toes but his fingers all go different directions.

Dan, if teams never got better by firing their coaches, teams would never fire their coaches!

Excellent contradiction: "if hockey has a short schedule, it's okay!" "it's been out of sight, out of mind for me"

If hockey is coming back in a short season after having been out of sight and out of mind, IT ISN'T OKAY

What the guys didn't mention is that RDS (Montreal) reporter Renaud Lavoie tweeted today that an NHL source has told him that if a deal isn't done by January 11th, the season will be cancelled.

That would ruin their tack that "nobody is reporting on the NHL lockout."

Gerry DiNardo happy to parrot the big lie that all these bowl games are "great for the teams." Yeah, great to make to schools lose money on silly exhibition games no one cares about, that the coaches have already quit before, that no one wants to watch. Yes, the Beef O'Brady's Bowl is great for teams.

Bernstein tax talk.

Bernstein was reminding people to donate the things they plan to donate, like clothes, and to save the receipts because they'll get 15% back off the retail value.

He said your accountant will thank him for reminding you.

How long do you think Mr. Mouth had been waiting to make that call about gladiatorial combat? I think he thought that asking Dan if he would pay to watch people from a third world country stage a real-life fight to the death was going elicit a more thoughtful, or at least positive, response than it did and he probably didn't expect Dan to read a text saying that the texter would pay to watch a fight to the death between Mr. Mouth and Black Physicist.

I don't understand Bernstein's blind faith in Emery just because his guy says Emery has processes and is methodical. Still too early but so far Emery's methods and processes has yielded a mixed bag of shit (Rachal, Bush, Weems, Hardin, Hayden), meh (McClellin, Hayes, Forte contract, Scott) and great (Marshall). Not saying his processes suck. Though, you can have all the processes you want but if they are dog shit then the result is dog shit.

It's sort of hard to judge a draft after 15 games. Just sayin.

I though the Forte deal was bad because, while he's an above average back, his numbers were a bit inflated because he was the best weapon on offense from 2008-11 and was included on so many plays because of it.

MJD didn't even get a bid deal.
