Mac sounds like a proud father chatting with friends. Bernstein sounds like a neurotic father partially happy yet haplessly worried about...something.

I don't mind either as usually they provide decent stories. But you are correct in that the feeling one gets from listening is quite different.

There are plenty of reasons to dislike Bernstein. Him talking about his kid isn't one of them. At least not to me.

I enjoy it insofar as I can relate, for I was an obnoxiously precocious kid, too. I know, what a shock. However, my dad did not host a popular sports talk radio show, nor does he even like sports that much, so I never got to break down game film as a 2nd grader and explain why the Bulls should've played zone when they played man.

I wonder if Jason podcasts sports or something else. If I were clever, it would be fun to play with another subject a 7 year old Jason might be podcasting.

I don't dislike him but it is something that I dislike. I think I dislike because it's in the same category of embellishment as dunking, hitting 95 fastballs and being 5.85 feet. My seven year old speaks Mandarin and Hebrew, podcasts, has sophisticated conversations and is a wiz at hockey...sure he is Dan, sure he is.
