When Bonnaroo 2002 ended, we didn't sleep another night in the tents, we left. We stopped at a Cracker Barrel just outside of Manchester, TN, and who walked in? None other than Jimmy Herring and his family. He just got done playing a show with The Other Ones, made up mostly of former Grateful Dead members. We didn't want to bother the guy, but we wanted to say hi. Once we finished eating, and paid the tab, a couple of us walked up to his table. I said, "Hey Mr. Herring, we don't want to bother you, but we just want to tell you how much we enjoyed the show." He couldn't have been nicer. He chatted us up for a few minutes, and as we left, he thanked us for coming out to support the festival. He was really a down to earth guy.
