I don't know if they'll even give Coach Thibs & crew the time of day.

hey guys, i see that the state of pennsylvania plans to sue the NCAA over penn st sanctions. i'm not sayin.... i'm just sayin.... #AthansMotors

how much of this creeps into the obligatory "kiss my ass wednesday" show about how he was always right that the McCaskeys had NOTHING to do with this dumping Lovie business? If it's proper news, it's gotta get at least a segment or two, right?

How much does Bears' GM Phil Emery want a head coach as much as someone with personality? Bernsy explains that "Personality Matters to Emery" here:

No it's not. Emery wants to hire a guy who's a.) good at coaching and b.) not a jerkoff. There's absolutely no evidence that Emery, or anyone else, believes that either of those personality traits causes the other.

and certainly not the Ditka-saur himself, wobbling on roller-skates with a cigar in one hand and a snifter of cognac sloshing in the other, amber sunglasses askew as he garbles something at a fan before spitting out his gum and tumbling down a flight of stairs.

a. Why would Ditka be chewing gum while also smoking a stogie and drinking cognac?
b. Why is he wearing roller-skates while smoking and drinking?
c. Why would Ditka attempt to go down a flight of stairs with roller-skates and both hands occupied?

I realize Bernstein is saying Ditka has become a caricature of himself but this is too far.

I've got one more. Why would CBS2's Mike Parker want to talk to "Da Coach" at his restaurant for reaction to Lovie Smith's firing?

What the fuck is Bernstein talking about. This is a "golden age" for Chicago GMs?

Emery is completely unproven.
Theo with the Cubs has not done anything to warrant the comment either yet.
Rich Hahn is completely unproven.
I've defended GarPax consistently, and they are probably the best in this group as of right now, but most people dont have as favorable an opinion on them as I do.

Rich Hahn? I think you mean Rick Hahn, the new White Sox GM who has made only 1 major addition to this point. 3B (for now) Jeff Keppinger as a free agent from the Rays. That's it.

As for "GarPax", they better start getting ready to trim salary so Uncle Jerry doesn't pay the luxury tax. You better enjoy Richard Hamilton now, Bulls fans. Hamilton's on borrowed time with this uneven roster.

Sorry, but I pretty much never mention hockey. I dont mean it as a slight, I just have literally almost no knowledge of the sport at all. I couldnt tell you one thing good or bad about the Blackhawks GM.

I did mean Rick, not Rich. Good catch SHARK.

Stan Bowman is not an old guy with years of head/liver trauma, which by NHL GM standards makes him brilliant. Beyond that, I dunno, he's okay, I guess. He's done a good job keeping the farm system in the top 10 without bottoming out the parent club. Something to be said for that.

Connor McKnight has the "Scoreboard Updates" this afternoon. As for what else is planned...

*3:30P: "The Second Half"

*5P: The SCORE/PFW/Dial Global Radio Network's Hub Arkush
Frank from Oak Park's Favorite Segment-Listener Calls-Hub Also Works the SEA/WSH NFC Wildcard Game Sunday Afternoon on Dial Global Radio with Dave Sims & James Lofton

Terry's "two favorite words", Laurence Holmes, follows @ 6P. His evening SCORE is abbreviated tonight due to Seton Hall/DePaul NCAA Basketball at Allstate Arena. Zach Zaidman & Jeff Blanzy have the call starting @ 7:45P from Rosemont. The voice of the Kane County Cougars, Wayne Randazzo, or "SCORE Overnight" (EP Version) with Les Grobstein & Adam Harris follows DePaul basketball on The SCORE this eve.

Bowman has set up the Hawks pretty nicely for post-lockout NHL financially. He has fixed Tallon's mismanagement of the cap and right now the Hawks are sitting pretty with a talented roster, relatively clean capsheet and loaded farm.

Yeah, turns out that summer of doing nothing but signing Sheldon Brookbank was kind of smart in the end, sadly. Who knows what the future shall hold for teams that threw money around under expiring terms.
