Interesting. SWA used to always have less expensive flights than everyone. It's not the case now. They only had like 8 dates that you had to fly. So it's not a perfect option, but with a little flexibility I had to take it.

I used to be a Southwest fanboy, but they've gotten consistently worse as time has gone on. I still fly them, but it's now pretty easy to find better direct flights where you have a reserved seat.

I don't know if they came up in price or everyone else came down to them. Seems to be the former, but I am no expert. I still have to fly them as the main destination is still cheaper on SWA. Other carriers don't fly there competitively. The shocker was flying to other cities with more competition. SWA used to always be a good bet. Not the case anymore.

They had a deal like this a few years back on New Year's Eve. Wife and I got two round trip tickets to Vegas, non-stop of course, for $480.
