I'm not a big watcher of movies, but one of my kids wanted "Ted" for Christmas, & we watched it tonight & it is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Touching as well. I give it 4 stars.

Is that 4 stars out of 4 or 10?

Aren't movies rated on a 4 star system?

Or two thumbs.

There are different rating systems (i.e. IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes). The 4 star system is inherently flawed because just about every movie gets 2 or 3 stars.

Ted was alright, I suppose. It got quite a bit hamfisted with its metaphorical sledgehammer; insomuchas ted is clearly the representation of marky mark's inner child so as the movie went on and on it had to go through the motions of the canned/hackneyed love story in peril because, gasp, marky mark has to decide if he wants to "grow up" and "be a man" to "take the next step" with meelah kuntis or does he want to forever remain a funloving immature little kid with Ted?

like any seth macfarlane outing, the individual gags are the strengths.... and the random flash gordon subplot delivered the goods. i forgot that crappy lil movie had such an epic soundtrack: FLASH.... DAH DAH DAH.... FLASH!!!

but hey, major films have to appeal to a low/est common denominator, and given the state of ameritainement these days (we haven't risen up and started a reasonable revolution to ensure that the country that won world war 2 isn't subjecting a significant % of its populace to honey boo boo) welp, * inhales and holds in the hit, feeling reality jiggle around his head before exhaling a giant puff of smoke * it is what it is, man.... it is what it is*. </profoundrevelations>

* = i haven't smoked in a very long time, something like 8+ months. i'm emeritus, and lord knows you lot can vouch for me in that i'm spaced out enough as it is =D

Ted was in my top 5 of the year. A lot of people think it'll be a "one joke" movie about a Bear who makes dirty jokes, but there's more to it.

yep. Ok movie, nothing special. If anything, it should've been a lot funnier than it was.

Damn, I haven't seen yet. But if you're comparing it to the overrated-ness of the hangover, I'm in for a big disappointment.

It's fine.

IMO, its "The Other Guys" meets "Family guy"

We will construct a series of breathing apparatus with kelp. We will be able to trap certain amounts of oxygen. It's not gonna be days at a time. An hour? Hour forty-five? No problem. That will give us enough time to figure out where you live, go back to the sea, get some more oxygen, and stalk you. You just lost at your own game. You're outgunned and out-manned.

The Hangover is great the first like 2 times you see it. After that it becomes very 'meh' outside of a few Allan lines.

The Hangover was the most overrated comedy since American Pie.

I think saying "The Hangover is overrated" is overrated. Even the people who really like the movie don't think it's anything more than a funny throw away movie about getting drunk.

I saw it maybe three weeks after it came out after listening to nearly every single person I know say it was one of the greatest comedies of all time.

It was hyped up in theaters but I still think it's amazing the first time you see it. It becomes a good movie when you already know all the twists.

Either way it made so much money that they decided to do a sequel.

They'll probably pull in some big money within the first 2 or 3 weeks.

I'll wait for the Hangover 4 to come out starring Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider & David Spade.

Ted was just eh. Felt like the current state of Family Guy, meaning just a bunch of swing and misses.

American Pie was hilarious when I was in High School. It doesn't really hold up now that I am older.

Why would that song be hilarious?
