That's actually a great analogy.

HOLY. SHIT.

This afternoon is must-listen radio. Was Dan wrong about Emery's genius? Wrong about Singletary's idiocy? Wrong about the McCaskeys NOT. RUNNING. THIS. TEAM.? Or will he find a way to be right about everything?

He will probably treat it like he treated the Kerry Wood signing. Not Phil's idea, but simply a bone tossed to the owner. Maybe George has a signed contract with Singletary in his drawer.

Just because your college team sucks doesn't mean all college sports suck.

I'm interested as well. I feel like the Bernstein I fell in love with would take a humorous right-turn and say 'well, looks like I was wrong!' and make a bunch of jokes about Singletary. With drops.

The new serious one will probably say that Emery is just doing this to gain favor with the meatballs who don't know the real story....who will call in and the show will (pretend to) wish they didn't call in.

We have our answer!

Stop being silly about #Bears interviewing Singletary. Simple favor among long, long list, nothing more. Emery will get the guy he wants.

When the Bears interview someone Dan likes: wow, look at Phil Emery go!

When the Bears interview someone Dan doesn't like: pff, it's a courtesy interview

Oh well! guess I'll continue to not listen then.

Why would they even extend him a courtesy interview? Emery doesnt owe Singletary a fucking thing.

Every moment spent with Singletary is a moment taken away from the consideration of the biggest decision he has, or probably will ever make, in his professional career. Now add in essential scouting duties and house cleaning items within the organization and the imposition of a hand job interview by your superiors really does speak to the fact that things are not as Bernstein believes.

The one question I have never heard asked or answered: who is sitting in on the interviews?

Strenuously agree on the big boy thing. I'll add "narrative" to Dan's overused word list.

Dan's Bears source said that Emery was asked to do this as a favor. Singletary is a HOFer, and the organization wanted to help out. Emery didn't have to do this, but he chose to talk with Samurai anyway.
Could be an excuse, but it does sound plausible. Also, it's hardly the tapdance many predicted would take place.

I do a lot of favors for my boss too. In fact, if I don't do them he may not ask me to do any more favors for him and I'd be unemployed.

Only Berns is dumb enough to think that a family who owns s family business, is not "running" that business.

On another note, college football is better than NFL football.
