This whole Emery narrative is just weird, even for them.

For the record, I do like Theo. Dan's man crush on Emery is comparable to the earlier Theo love affair.

I don't know if anything was close to the Theo love affair. 17 wins in a row by Vinny Del Negro has to have him questioning his "Thibs" love. Maybe the tortured soul NBA coach isn't as important as he's made them out to be.

They are important, but probably not as much so as NFL coaches. Winning in the regular season is about talent, winning in the postseason is about coaching + talent. It's probably the reason the Clippers and Thunder wont win the Finals this year.

y'know, here's the weird things. Del Negro and Brooks were both really smart basketball guards...why are they such awful coaches and Skiles is a good coach? Don't get it...

yeah...this is really not going to end well for them. They're laying an awful lot of incriminating tape here when the Emery era inevitably ends in destruction.

well, I wasn't making a statement...it was more like a question. And Skiles was a great player but on some bad Orlando teams...when Orlando came into their own he was gone. Del Negro and Brooks were def. benchwarmers, I think Del Negro was a CBA'er before San Antonio came calling and was fighting for a job with Keith Jennings or somebody

They really can't

1. Emery is a dumb ass for thinking he'd be a great head coach.

2. He's playcating dumb Bears fans who think bug eyes matter. A GM shouldn't playcate fans. B&B said this GM doesn't do shit like that.

3. He's giving this interview at the request of a McCaskey. Cuz a McCaskey thinks he owes it to Singletary. Or because a McCaskey wants to playcate Bears fans. Either way, it means that McCaskeys are still involved with day to day operations. They're telling Emery what to do. B&B told us the McCaskeys were out of the way cuz they want to be out of the way.

This is obviously a Rooney Rule interview.

You're not very good at what you do Beardown.

Not a Rooney Rule interview.

The McCaskeys want high character guys and Singletary fits that bill.

Being good at something and being able to relate that information to others is not the same thing. It is like those College professors you get who you know are very smart and knowledgeable, but can't explain it to their class.

It's the resurrection of the old Wannstedt love affair repeat with anecdotes of bumping into coach in the hallways and improtu chalk talk. This was before Bernstine was a host so he could go more into how real the personal bond was, now its more about how Emery has so much autonomy and authority.

Didn't Dan get his big break at the station by going after Wannstedt and exposing what a shortsighted idiot he was? Times change, huh.

The back-to-back 4-12 seasons didn't give him any extra insight. He was doing weekends and fill-in before Mike North rearranged The Score.

Yeah, BernSTINE wasn't some gumshoe slueth going through Wanny's garbage cans, hounding him with hard hitting questions, peering through his windows at night or hacking his computer.

He does do all of this with Theo though, in a more sexual way, of course.

Bernstein got the gig because he was an excellent beat reporter and had a different tone than everybody else at the station at that time. He was a humorous, refreshing, and insightful change of pace.

The irony is that now nearly everybody that walks in now sounds like him and now anybody else would be a refreshing change of pace.

Well, not everybody, just ALL the scrubs and fill-ins. M&H and Mac &Speigs are not like Bernstein. Unfortunately they are not great shows for other reasons.

Nobody closes out their report with the score shout as Bernsie did.

None of those guys are really new, though. Even Spiegs had his own gig for quite a few years before coming back.

I don't think Skiles is a good coach. I also don't think either Del Negro or Brooks are awful coaches.

The Clippers start the night 27-8 and have the NBA's best record, believe it or not going into a home game vs. the Mavericks at STAPLES Center. However, OKC, the jury is still very much out on Vinny Del Negro as an NBA head coach despite the Clippers sporting the NBA's best record. These guys still aren't sold on VDN, even with the Clips atop the standings & league power rankings.

I never found him all that humorous. However, the Score had gone far right wing meatball with North giving air time to every buddy who could lift his head off the Double Bubble bar. Bernstien brought balance.
