The boys will discuss the coaching “search” today, although there really is no “search” because per Bernsie, Phil Emery already has his guy. The brilliance of this man is growing more evident by the day.

The interview with Singletary is meaningless. How can people not understand this?

Phil Emery’s track record speaks for itself, and anyone who thinks otherwise is nothing but a rube.

Listen, or kiss my ass.

What is Phil Emery's record anyway? A few busted drafted choices and a "great" press conference?

The Chiefs "thing" speaks for itself, although I'm not sure if that was a Romeo Crenel thing or not. But, yeah, their drafts weren't all that great or even all that good and Professor Phil Emery M.D./PHD was a part of that as Dir. of Pro Personnel. Not sure what track record this guy has that would even show a glint as to why he is a BIG BOY GM.

And the press conference wasn't pretty standard fare. Lots of buzzwords and such.

He's only .500 in his pressers. Nothing to get excited about.

You don't need reporters. Everything you need is on mlb.com (from reporters)

I find this new stance on the baseball HOF and the steroid era confounding and refreshing if that is possible.

Enough Hall of Fame talk, let's discuss shared birthdays of players with thick thighs Chicago.

Golden Richards sucked with the Bears because he had a huge painkiller addiction.

Agreed. When I was a kid I fetishized over baseball history and stats. I had a voluminous baseball card collection, and was just generally obsessed with the sport as if it were religion.

I was a kid. The adults who still act this protective and obsessive over their sport is repulsive.

I barely pay attention to it these days. I saw probably 8 white sox games on TV last year.

I don't know what happened. I just lost passion for baseball. Now playoff baseball, like playoff basketball, is damn entertaining.

I appreciate the use of "Juicy Fruit" for the steroid montage.

Here's the Wednesday Game Plan w/the guys:

*3:30P: "The Second Half"

*3:45P: Sports Illustrated/NBC Sports Network's Joe Sheehan
The First HOF Induction Shutout Since 1996; Who Gets In Next Year?

*5P: The SCORE/PFW/Dial Global Radio Network's Hub Arkush
Frank from Oak Park's Favorite Segment; Listener Calls-Hub Works GB/SF Saturday Night in the NFC Divisional Playoff on Dial Global Radio Network-7P Saturday on 670 The SCORE

"Scoreboard Updates": David Schuster

He's back! Terry's "two favorite words" (and the shameless NBC5 plugger) Laurence Holmes follows @ 6P for a "full boat show" complete with "Hater Wednesday" @ 9P. Laurence's EP Joe Ostrowski has the late night SCORE @ 10P followed by "SCORE Overnight" with Les Grobstein & Adam Harris @ Midnight this eve.

I used to belong to the baseball religion. Then steroids came in and pretty much shit all over everything. Now I don't care.

I see. So at one time you were the same, circumstances changed from within and without you as well as baseball, and now Spiegel's a dumbass for still loving baseball a lot. Got it. Guess I'm a dumbass as well. For that reason, too .... I've got a laundry list of other problems.

Maybe Laurence can help clear this up for me but all this handwringing over steroids in baseball vs. the shoulder shrug that it gets in football has got to have some racial elements tied to it, right?

Hatchetman, you're not alone. Bernsy's also "Done With The Hall of Fame" and explains here:

Demeanor on sidelines is completely irrelevant to winning championships you dumb meatballs. But the demeanor of the GM when meeting with the press is the single best criterion of competence.

I cant ever envision you arguing that "No, baseball really is life!" if someone suggests that the baseball hall of fame probably shouldn't cause you so much stress and heartburn. You usually have a broader perspective than that. I think that's all he's saying. At least that's what I meant with my original comment.

Mark it down. Terry's guy states: "Emery already knows who he is going to hire". So anyone interviewed after 1/9/2013 is a waste of time. We'll see if his guy is a reliable source.

spailing errs edit.
