Who knows.

But I guess that shoots Bernsie's "Phil Emery has complete control" theory to shit.
That theory was already shit, no shooting needed.

I like your thinking. I will start a "Fire" thread the day of the announcement.

Now I'm not allowed to comment on other teams because I roll with the NFC North Champs? If another team were doing the exact same thing I would say the exact same thing. I would also say that Andy Reid needs to take a break and not another job, that the Eagles and Browns are lucky as hell that the Oregon coach stayed at Oregon.....but those teams aren't that interesting to discuss. The Bears are a polarizing team to talk about regardless of whether you root for or against him.

It's not like I'm coming in this thread and saying "that's the plan?? " 50 times in a row without adding anything of substance.

I find it hard to believe that Bernsie will have a positive view of the Singletary interview -- a little early to call a stand against Emery's talk with Samurai as Anti-Bernstein.

Well to be fair, this is how it works in the non-sports real world.
for entry level positions, not for executive positions
I would venture that the number of serious interviews is typically less than a handful regardless of the position level.

Don't you think this approach couch put them in the danger zone of being swayed by a guy who interviews better than he coaches. When you have a smaller list of candidates that all have the basic things you are looking for they are much easier to compare. As you widen the field you have a ton more philosophies and differences making them much harder to compare and then you can fall victim to whomever is the best salesman.

Yeah, I just would rather be comprehensive.

Not that I have faith that Emery will know who to pick.
Speeps, what's the difference between being comprehensive and conducting a search? If emery had announced that they were engaging in a search for a new coach he would have been pilloried. "They're always too slow to act." "The good candidates will be gone." "They're clueless",...etc.

Dont sweat it. It seems like most Bear fans here don't give a shit but some are sensitive to packer fans saying anything, good or bad, about the Bears. You're only allowed to have thoughts on one team apparently.

I never said that. Neither did RPB. Clearly you can have whatever thoughts you want about whatever team(s) you want. All we said that you opinion is biased because of your fandom, as is mine.

FF you said yesterday that you really hope the Bears hire the CFL guy, probably because it would be comical to you. That's fine, you can have that opinion. You only have it because you are biased against the Bears. As I stated yesterday the guy was on an NFL coaching staff for nearly 20 years. What is the harm in talking to him?

"interviewing 20 candidates is ridiculous"
If Mike McCarthy gets fired after losing on Saturday and Ted Thompson interviews 15 or 20 guys I highly doubt you would be calling it ridiculous.

UMN and FF, lets be honest. It's obvious the majority of time you are writing things to incite Bear fans. Limits the perceived value of your statements. Cheapens them, even if you have an honest and valid opinion.

UMN does that a lot more than FF (even his screen name is a hot), but you're correct.

I wrote that I wanted them to hire him because you made him sound like a viable candidate.

Yes I would criticize TT if he interviewed 20 people. He's a great GM but he isn't beyond criticism.

Until the number of interviews directly leads to them missing on the candidate they want most, it's a non issue.

I don't think Marrone or Reid were their top choice.

That's not being honest. I don't really troll Bears fans. When I do, I'm giving my honest opinion. I really thought Marshall wouldn't do very well here, I was wrong. I thought Jay was never gonna be great, so far I've been right. I've been very complimentary of Forte, Peppers, Briggs, etc. I defended Lovie several times. I'm not some lolz bears suck! kind of poster. Of course I've taken jokingly taken shots at them in the years I've posted here, but when I say Emery is looking foolish for interviewing so many unqualified candidates, it's not coming from a position of bias. Many Bears fans and media members have questioned him for it also. Are IB and TM closet Packer fans because they think Emery is a joke?

FF, have I ever accused you or KS or Hawg of that kind of bias?

UMN is a decent poster. But I find many of his posts to be influenced in some way by his fandom. Moreso than most here.

I just take his opinions on the Bears, White Sox, Packers, and Cubs as fan ramblings. When talking about the teams he's not a fan of, he's much better.

Just my opinion

Typed words do little to convey the spirit with which things are said. I'm generally just having fun with the Packers when I speak about them, sometimes I'm serious, sometimes a smart ass and it all probably reads the same in word form.

I dont believe you've ever outright dismissed any of my opinions because of bias, but you have brought it up to me before in response to some of my opinions. It's not completely unfair, it just doesn't seem meaningful because everyone here is biased in the same regard, to some extent, with every sporting team discussed.

FF, UMN is more biased than most. If you disagree that's fine, but he's a guy who enjoys ripping the rival of his team more than most.

Hence: Lovie's horseshoe and the incessant comments about Kenny Williams son

Lovie is gone, his horseshoe has been long gone and Kenneth has been traded away. If Coop gets off the sauce I am completely out of material.

I am serious though on my thoughts about Emery. I thought he was a strange choice for the GM job last year and he is interviewing half the league in an attempt to replace a HC who went 10-6 overall from division that sent 2 teams to the playoffs. I think most Bear fans are going to try and make the best of what they have right now which is Emery but they would rather have replaced both the GM and Head Coach last off season than have the current situation.

As a Packer fan I felt far more threatened by the Angelo/Lovie regime than I do about the Emery/Anyone regime.

Until the Bears get a new QB I just dont feel threatened by them. This isn't bias speaking, or maybe it is, but it is my actual opinion and not an attempt at trolling. I think Charles Woodson summed up the sentiment well.

Here is your 2013 winner for understatement of the year.

UMN is a good poster in his own unique way, but his unique way is basically blind homerism and agendas based on it.
