This rebuilding thing is fine, but it usually does take the life of a manager and he loses some fire, so I do think at some point they will need some more "fire and passion" in 2014/15.at 3rd? If they are going to stand behind Dale and know the downside of the next 2 years...they might need to look for a boost when the time comes.

Maybe a guy that can really fire guys up? a Guy who has a house in Chicago and I think the only thing that would stop Ozzie is if Jerry R asked him not to do it.

Isn't Ozzie the guy who kept saying Wrigley is a shit hole with rats in the awful clubhouses? I believe him that it is a shit hole but he seemed so annoyed by it that I can't see him making it his office.

If this isn't a Frank-baiting thread, I'm going to be very disappointed.

Don't they say a manager impacts like 25 games a year? I can't imagine a 3rd base coach impacting more than a handful. What would be our the WOR for Ozzie vs. what we have?

That's ridiculous. MLB managers don't impact shit. Anyone here could manage an MLB team.

I find it hard to blame 101 loss season on Dale Sveum. I did question a few moves but in his press conferences he usually explained his moves pretty well. I think Dale will show his "redass" when the time comes.

Well then a 3rd base coach would impact even less. So not worth talking I guess. That was kind of my point.

Isnt, just saw a tweet from Ozzie, wondering what he is doing as he is unemployed. I could easily seeing him taking a year off, but you know the guy will want to get back in...and he has a big house still here.

(I think everything I write is Frank Baiting in Franks mind)

How down on your luck does someone have to be to consider going to the Cubs? To think that a few years ago he was on the top of the world with the White Sox and now he's considering this. These are the types of cautionary tales that they should be scaring kids in high school with.

Up yours! They will rise again! Just a few short years ago they were in the playoffs under Lou.

I don't think many teams will be looking to hire Ozzie for a few years.

3-4 games.

Those are the good ones

But the atmosphere a manager creates has a much bigger impact

Ozzie got a ton of credit from many players for the 2003 Marlins comebacks over the Cubs. As a 3rd base coach, you obviousely dont see that, but heard many different players talk about it.

I know it is intangible, but wouldn't you also consider that an impact of a manager?

Yes, that's what I meant to imply

In game decisions = Maybe 3-5 games

But that doesnt mean the difference from one manager to the next isnt bigger than that.
