The stupid thing is all these SEC Bible Belt schools are in the terrible shape in terms of poverty. They have little revenue from taxes and they receive the most federal aid.

The people who live there should just move somewhere else.

I've long believed Dave Van Dyck was Terry's baseball guy. I now believe he calls in as Mike in Milwaukee. Dave sounds like he's having a bad day.

DVD has crossed over into "cranky old man" territory. Which is fine.

He really was doing it over nothing. There's thousands of reasons to do that, but I don't even know what he was surly about.

By the way, Pat Patterson was a big fan of DVD because of his kicks and the tights.

Speaking of Mike from Milwaukee, where the hell is he? The guy's always funny, let alone wasted whenever he drops dime on this program.

Just out of curiosity (I have no idea what the answer to this is): What are baseball manager salaries like?

Most of them would probably be 37 now. Too soon?

I would have to guess anywhere between $1.5 million and $5 million, roughly the same range as NFL head coaches. I think Tony La Russa was making about $4MM near the end, Torre probably more, Mike Quade so very much less.

That seems about right to me.

Q. How much do NBA head coaches make?

A. Never enough to soothe their forever tortured souls

I think they make at least $2 million or more.

All this complaining about the baseball writers is ultimately taking us to one of two destinations:

"Just let the owners decide, it's their game"

or

"Have an independent committee of, like, really smart people! There are MBAs from Ivy League schools who can figure this out objectively!"
