That's not even remotely true.

Angelos post Super Bowl drafts & free agent signings were horrendous. You could randomly pick a CSFMB member, including Frank or IB, who could have made better draft picks than Angelo did from 2006 to 2011. A monkey could have gone 100% chalk & drafted better than Angelo.

Whats next...Dick Jauron was a great head coach??? Wanny? Abe?

Saying Angelo's GM run from 2006-2011 is one of the worst 5 year stretches ever - for the entire NFL's history - is just completely fabricated bullshit and would diminish/destroy your credibility on talking football if you happened to have any left.

Now that this season is done and over and there were no playoffs for the Bears.......does anyone wish they would have blown the entire thing up last season where both a GM and HC would be hired instead of having Emery?

No, it would take the Bears six months to hire both positions.

It was exactly the word I was looking for.

Have you looked at the Bears draft picks & free agent signings from 2006 to 2011? If not, you will be shocked at how bad they were.

I have. You just posted them again. The drafts weren't great and the Cutler trade turned out to be a mistake. The Peppers signing was a great signing and has had a tremendous impact on the defense, so I disagree with you there. I respect IB's football opinion, but I disagree with his evaluation of Angelo and I think Angelo's time in Tampa influences his opinion a bit too much. But he's not the worst GM ever and that's not the worst 5 year run any GM has ever had. Im nearly positive that Jerry Jones has probably had a worse 5 year run before, just off the top of my head. And let's not forget Matt Millen, national punching bag. Im sure there are dozens of examples in the past 25 years of GMs having a much worse 5 year stretch than the one Angelo has had. Remember that teams like the Lions, Bengals, and Bills have gone 10+ years without even a playoff appearance.

Good post. Remember the Angelo free agent signings? Adam Archuletta, Brandon Manumaleuna, Brandon Meriweather, Chester Taylor, Marian Barber & Orlando Pace? Yowza!
Even Jerry Jones outdrafted Angelo. I'm not saying that Jones is a good GM, but he drafted a few HOF's. Here are his top draft picks:

Emmitt Smith
Troy Aikman
Jason Witten
Dez Bryant
Demarcus Ware
Darren Woodson
Larry Allen
Daryl "Moose" Johnston

I gotta leave for a dinner meeting & don't have time to look up the Lions, Bills, & Bengals, but yea, I would expect that there drafts have not been stellar.

And to think: until Scorehead showed up to drop some knowledge on me, I'd always thought Jimmy Johnson drafted those players.

There has been an ongoing war of words between Jones & Johnson regarding who exactly drafted these Cowboy players, & if I'm being honest, JJ probably played a big role.

If I were an emoticon guy, you would get a smiling face for that.

Scorehead, if you want to know which person deserves the credit, look at what Jones has done post Johnson.

I predicted Trestman would get the job as soon as I read his biography. There are broad and deep similarities between his biography and that of Emery's. Most troubling is their mutual lack of sustained achievement and their common dependence on a cliched management school vocabulary in analyzing personnel matters.

He turned Rich Gannon into a superstar in Oakland. Also,I enjoy the CFL on TV when I can find it.

I hope like hell that Tressman isn't the guy...but if he is, why hasn't he been hired already? I'm hoping that the preferred candidate is still coaching the Broncos in the playoffs.

Not just tryin to pick on you Scorehead, but why the hell is everyone spelling his name like this? I've seen it spelled this way at least a half dozen times.

Emery: So what have you done in the CFL that makes you think you can be a good NFL coach.

Trestman: We beat the hell out of the Argonauts eh!

Emery: Should I pay you 7 million a year or 8?
