we'll see how long the "company line" lasts. I picture a Mac blowup shortly after the draft when Emery inevitably drafts crap.

If you don't think there's been some sort of reassertion that WSCR is part of CBS Radio's contract with the Bears, why do you think the tenor of the station has changed the way it has?

They don't necessarily carry the Bears' games themselves, but they air plenty of Bears' talk.

Dan knew this was going to happen. Good thing he checked his voicemail.

And good thing Gawker has Really Smart People on retainer.

In a word, synergy.

The Score needs to get big voice guy back into the office for some emergency promos.

Here's to hoping that everyone stays out of that dum-dum's "LOOK AT ME I CREATED ANOTHER THREAD DESPITE A DAILY SHOW THREAD ALREADY BEING IN EXISTENCE" and just posts about Dan and Terry's take of Manti Te'o here.

Dan had a friend who told him "something big" might be hitting deadspin today...don't say anything....but just keep a tab open on your PC at work. Woof, Boers' disease has infected Dan.

This story is nuts, and that video Dan Tweet'd out is even crazier.

Is it indicative of B&B (Dan's) true feelings about Hub that his intro. music is "Won't Get Fooled Again"? Given Hub's penchant for being wrong, that's pretty funny.

Haha, I brought that up once.

Hub going to the wall for Dick Jauron. Very well-spoken. Yeah, the guy who gave us "he had to get into an athletic rhythm" and "we need to get him in the building and get his football information" is the Great Communicator, Hub, you dink.

The stream here went down. What is Hub's take on the hiring?

He's predictably being a prick about it....uh huh huh, listen guys, I don't know if this will be a good hire but it's the REASON they hired that bothers me. They hired him because they think he can fix Cutler, and that's just not good business." Dumb. What an expert.

Also, anyone else finding drinky much more unlikable? Is it just me? Seems like this past 12 months has not been great for his on air persona.

Hahaha, Leery had to mention that "all the women in the channel 5 newsroom" were rooting for Manti Te'o. Quick: I need Zaidman, race, and celebrities who would get it.

My antipathy to Hub is well documented. But he is correct here.

The other awkward thing about Trestman that I haven't seen anyone bring up is that his offense is exactly what you don't want Jay Cutler running -- a system reliant upon consistent accuracy and quick decisions. If the Bears are double down on Cutler, I'd do it full-assed.

Don't worry: if anything doesn't work, he can change it. He can adapt. He's really smart.

Wikipedia tells me under its "notable faculty" section for the University of Miami Law School:

Which hot HC candidate is running the inaccurate, slow-decision making offense?

Didn't someone post a section of CBS Radio's SEC filings that confirmed a more formal relationship between the Bears, WBBM and the Score?

Would it be even slightly shocking if a guy like Trestman were (yeah, I think were is the correct word here) looking to draft his own QB to mold if not this year then certainly next year?

This draft might be a little difficult because of the reduction in picks, but I fully expect to hear he is scouting QBs at the all star games and combine.

Take it in another direction, wouldn't Alex Smith be a good fit for a west coast offense. Cutler would certainly bring them some draft picks to rebuild the line. Could you get the Chiefs to give you Joekel for Cutler straight up?

I don't know about that one. That's one hell of a find, though. I just found a press release that said it was an agreement between the Bears and CBS, not the Bears and WBBM, with a Bears presence on every CBS Radio station. Maybe they'll have Marc Trestman on with Terri Hemmert to discuss his favorite Replacements and Husker Du songs.

I must have misinterpreted what you posted. Still, that is straight evidence that CBS radio expects compliance from its stations on the matter of the Bears. I think we have seen that play out rather clearly over the past few weeks. Rah, rah, rah!
