I don't think I agree with these guys on the press conference. Yeah Swarbrick was hilariously inept up there, but this seemed essentially like a way for them to shift all of this onto Te'o. It looks bad if Notre Dame was duped, but it looks worse if they were complicit.

The press conference wasn't necessary. That's part of the problem. It sounded as if Notre Dame AD Jack Swarbrick was left holding the bag for about 23 minutes.

At the end of the day, it is all on Te'o.

It's such a stupid story though. I dont see why it matters. He either was an idiot that got played by a dude or he's an idiot that made up a fake girlfriend. He wouldnt be the first guy to do that. Was he collecting social security checks or something from her? What's the big deal I'm missing?

Once again, demeanor on sidelines has nothing to do with competence or football intelligence or getting closer to championships, but the way you handle the media does.

Nobody's arguing that he committed a criminal act. I'm assuming your issue is with the amount of coverage this is receiving. That's your right, but it's still a very intriguing story. I guess my question would be, why are you surprised this story is receiving coverage? Te'o was highly publicized, if not figuratively shoved down our throats for five months with his bullshit "inspirational" story. It's not often that someone is able to pull a fast one on EVERYBODY quite the way he did. This isn't an everyday run of the mill story.

I think its a funny story and either way Te'o looks like a douche. I guess I just dont get why everyone is acting like he was a spy for the Russians. The Bears hired a new coach yesterday and when the story broke, the Score acted like they just got the communique that Pearl Harbor was bombed.

No. This story is weird enough as is. It's got "Twilight Zone" written all over it, and a planned interview ESPN's Jeremy Schaap was going to have with Manti Te'o isn't happening.
