It's not just that, but they're always so damn long-winded about it, too. It's never merely "love your show," it's always "Hi, Laurence, I just want to say that you brighten my days and light up my nights, and I've been a big fan of you since the days with Dan Zampillo, and most of all I really think you should have your own full-time show during the day, and thanks so much for all that you do with the Bears, and my question is--"

That's been going on for a few years.

It was that phenomenon that first led RPB and I to appreciate the show and led to the popularity it enjoys on the board to this day.

I'm glad somebody else notices this...it's really rampant on his show. It's so bad, it's gotta be people with bits.

Hmm. I would've guessed they're given a "suggestion" by whoever answers the phone to take their time fluffing Larry if they get on the air.

Larry has one thing going for him. He is better than the Snoozuotion that some are foolishly flocking to in these last days.

That stuff has been going on forever in radio. Way back when it was producers that told callers to say they were first time caller or on a cell phone in order to let others know to call in. Terry said the first couple months they couldn't get people to call. I love to listen but talk radio is just one big manipulation.

Mike North loved to say a caller was "in a cellphone". "Hey, we got Nate from Hyde Park in a cellphone! What's up, Nate???"

is it an ad hoc fallacy that says A happened then B happened, therefore B doesn't happen without A happening? it's one of those fallacies... i'm prolly misremembering.

Did he mention that Tim Jennings was a starter on this team who became a bench player behind Zach Bowman.

No, I think some shows just attract that kind of fawning, like Swieca attracted heavy breathing.

Right there, the caller proves he's a moron. That thing is a fucking train wreck. Hell, LoHo's intro makes Mike Murphy's old intro seem professional........

Wait, if that's a stupid idea, why does Kaplan trot Sirott out there during Chicago Hot Stove? Oh, wait. I made the mistake that Kaplan isn't stupid......

Guys, that's because Judd Sirott is also the pre/postgame for the WGN/Cubs Radio Network, while Jim Memolo takes over for Sirott on Blackhawks' duty come baseball season on 720 AM.

But again, he (Sirott) isn't an "insider" free to speak. He's on the payroll, just like Zac is for the Bears. Do you think honestly that either man is going to be truthful about the teams they are so-called "insiders" about?

No, because they aren't going to say anything too critical because they don't want to be fired.

It is Hub tomorrow with Connor McKnight at Binny's Beverage Depot in the South Loop from 6-10P, thanks to Bud Light, with Blackhawks' icon & Hockey Hall of Famer Denis Savard joining the guys @ 7P.

McKnight, who did updates on the "Mac & Spiegs Show" earlier today, will team with Joe Ostrowski at 6P this eve. Wayne Randazzo, who will be on update duty on that show, will follow @ 10P.

In the early days of the Score, I'm pretty sure the station provided some form of compensation to "star callers" (Wild Bill, Cicero Bob, Irish Bill, etc) for their contributions (That's what guys like Jauss and Gleason used to say at least). It wouldn't be shocking if something similar is happening with Laurence's posse.
