Sorry if this has been talked about or mentioned already. I listened all day at work and couldn't post til now. Bernstein was really hammering Spiegs during transition to always take a skeptical approach towards EVERYTHING and EVERYONE regarding his responsibility as a journalist. This from the same guy who is verbally felating Emery, Theo, Reinsdorf, and every other person in a position of power that comes up. This is the essence, as they like to say, of Who ya crappin?

This has definitely been talked about already.

But I am not one to judge

Anyways, he was being a overbearing douche during transition and Speigs was having none of it, neither was Mac. His lecturing is lame and he always needs to interrupt and yell even when talking to co-workers. The "QUESTION EVERYTHING!!! EXCEPT ANYTHING THE BEARS OR ONE OF OUR SPONSORS DOES!!!" Is pretty fucking lame and totally hypocritical. Duke grad? MY ASS.

Just catching up now. I saw you mention it. Didnt see anyone else follow up with any comments. This immediately struck me as very hypocritical of Dan, and Im a bit surprised there wasn't more of a reaction to it. I wish someone would have mentioned it during WYC.

Where's the sig from SomeGuy? Im guessing I was drunk, or high. You dont suck. You're just alright with me.

Nobody mentioned it because its pretty common

The Bernstein characterr is quite the hypocrite. I mean we all are to a degree , but he is on another level.

Its art of the larger character that is pretty good for the most part so people give a lot of slack

The CTE hysteria and love of NFL football is a good example

It's not hypocrisy. A neurologist likes the Packers. We can love to watch Naturally Superior Athletes destroy themselves for my Sunday/Monday/Thursday pleasure and still worry about CTE. We contain multitudes.

This is sarcastic right?

He treats CTE as serious as Sandusky, so why does he detach cte from the NFL but not Penn St from NCAA?

Cuz he's full of it! (Pardon my french)

What degree can you worry about it if you're actively enabling it?

I'm telling you. Huge Packers meatball. It's all going to be okay.

Ray. Lewis. Best. Linebacker. Ever.

Say it more often and more slowly and maybe you can make it true.

That is what is great about the show and that statement particular. There is NO consequence in saying it, even though the statement is false. Listeners will still tune in, advertisers will still pump in cash, wheels on the bus go round and round.

Dan has often claimed that he's not a journalist when people question him about the veracity of his claims saying that he's paid to give his opinions. He is however, a journalist, forensic accountant, medical doctor, and lawyer when it suits him. I don't think that Spiegel has any responsibility as a journalist because he's not a journalist. Writing a blog doesn't make you a legitimate journalist, does it?

I don't mind the opinion, even though I disagree. A knowledgeable football guy could make a reasonable argument. But when bernstein says it, I don't hear it as a sincere belief in the greatness of Ray Lewis, but rather as a passive-aggressive attack on the many, many, many people who believe that any one of several great Bear linebackers- especially Dick Butkus- is actually the greatest ever.

I got it. he is yelling over the assumed reply of "Butkus, Singletary, etc. were better"

The other day he said Ray Lewis being involved in a murder was "actually good for his brand," confirming that Darren Rovell has access to mind-control technology.

I definitely think so. Why can't he simply indulge the people that are paying his bills once in awhile? Although I believe I have heard him say the advertisers pay his bills. While that may be true, they're using the listeners' money to do it. And it isn't like Ray Lewis stands on a mountain above Butkus. It's a coin flip at best and I believe that the most educated football historians still consider Butkus the superior player. bernstein's insistence to the contrary is nothing more than contumaciousness.

It was from the Lipidquadcab Shoutout thread for my Don Henley avatar.

You said a lot of hurtful things that day.

He also said something hypocritical later in the day when talking about the sports legitimacy of the original Teo story. He stated that the original story should not have been in the sports section because it was too sappy. he stated that it should be in the parade section. He stated that sappy stories should not be in the sports section. But non sappy stories should? He talked about the Teo story for much of the previous Two days when a caller challenged him on the validity of it he said that it qualifies because he is a sports figure. Is he no less a sports figure when it is a feel good story. He talked about Sandusky for months though that was mostly a hard news story. The problem with their show is that it does not run like an actual sports show. They talk about booyah all the time but their are shows on that network that run laps around what they do. Cowherd show for one is a much better show. Their show is starting to sound more and more like radio version of Jay Mariotti column with all of the so called inside information and different types of innuendo. It contains very little analysis of actual sporting events

With the new drops they're using for "by Crackey" and during the Townstone reads, are they preparing us for life without Terry?

What?!? No, this isn't on topic...
