This pompous genius is going in with some nice pitching free agent signings but has totally ignored the offense. Nate Schurholtz doesn't cut it. He should have at least signed a Scott Hairston before the Convention. They need hitting bad.

He will be cheered for at least another year. If they are bad next year that will be reduced to polite applause. Fans have been conditioned to accept a five year plan.

Ok,they didn't sign him but bring in a few bats. They might have decent pitching this year, but they had it last year before they dumped some guys.

Yeah, but I was just showing you what I was talking about. Rodney's site is gone. His wife had a business also. Long gone, earlier days of the internet.

Maybe one mid-level guy,a couple of spare parts here and there. Nothing earth shattering, but right now I see two holes in the OF,3rd,2nd and some bench hitting.
That's 4 spots in the line-up with no bats. I am for rebuilding but if you have no one ready, get someone for a year. Who Knows?

He wasn't booed but the people who planned out the logistics should have been. See my DB of the week post for more details.

Last yar I said he could burn down an orphanage on the day puppies were visiting and get cheered. Now he can just burn down an orphanage.

Just a guess, but wondering if they didn't sign Scott until they knew they were out on Upton.

And I don't know why you even mentioned him, he's going to be the 4/5 outfielder, likely in a platoon. They did get a seemingly good deal though (up to $6MM over 2 years).

He isn't great but at least it's somebody. This team can actually be decent with some hitting. If that hitting comes from the minors,I'm fine with that. If you have no options in the minors, get a Hairston or somebody similar. I'm not looking for Mickey Mantle.

This type of comment, along with the whole "sign somebody for the convention" jive with what Jim Hendry would do... not Theo & Co.

What? He literally signed someone and announced it at the start of the convention. This is a fact. I don't have to use any of my magic abilities.

Ok, I agree. He did sign somebody and then announced it.

He did not do what Jimmy wanted (which is what we were discussing), signing someone JUST so he could announce it.
