BREAKING: Curt Menefee tacitly approves of dogfighting by saying that a "reformed" mike Vick lives life "in a way that we believe to be correct.

Curt Menefee subtly challenged our societal belief structure and instead of outrage the lead was buried to promote the UFC on fox.

Dan likes UFC. It's safer than boxing. Less endemic concussive hits than even "quote unquote professional wrestling" -- TALK MORE MMA! MATT ABBATACOLA WON'T GO IN THE OCTAGON BUT HE WILL HUNT PYTHONS. NO HOMO.

Terrible production. Somebody cut into the CBS SPORTS RADIO GUITAR RIFF to play a "funny" sound bite. There is no room for joking around when you're mere seconds from a cogent sports thought from CBS SPORTS RADIO (*riff*) alpha dog Jim "Burning Fool" Rome.

I hope everyone leaves the studio with their jobs today.

I'll give drinky credit. He has rounded into a pretty good on air guy. He had some annoying habits beforehand that I don't notice any more.

I enjoy drinky and Dan much more than Dan with anyone but Boers. drinky is able to keep the fun part of the show.

Do not blaspheme! Dan + Sir = radio bliss. I'd make it a point to wake up every morning if DL Holmestein was on my radio every morning. Hell, I might even listen.

I appreciate Matty trying to keep the show lighthearted and fun, but he's just not funny.

Who would buy the Yankees? That would have to be $2.25-2.5 billion. The population of individuals that could do that would have to be about 100. Is Apple going to buy it?

No. More than 100 people have that type of money. Especially if you're talking world-wide. And there would be a world-wide market place for the Yankees. Plus it might not be one person. Could be a group ownership.

The Dodgers went for close to 2 billion. I'd rather have the Yankees than the Dodgers.

Of course, you're right. It would likely be a group of people.

Per Forbes, last I remember, there were like 100 people with a net worth of $10 billion +. Although, I doubt they have a handle on the Arabian oil barons. I was working off the idea that no one group would sink more than 25% of their net worth into one asset. But, I'm sure some would - considering they'd still have a few billion left over.

There are plenty of very wealthy people that grew up fans. One could get a group of their equally wealthy friends in a pool. If you'll pardon the expression.

I have nothing to back this up, and I need to start doing some research. But I predict the next bubble to burst will be sports franchise values. The next five years could be a great time for the Steinbrenner's to get out.

If Jay-Z can own the Nets he can own the Yankees too.

That Russian guy that bought the New Jersey Nets has that type of money (J-Z is actually a very small minority owner). He'd probably be a bidder for the Yankees. I don't think MLB would want to sell the Yankess to a foreigner, however. David Stern didn't care. I saw a 60 minute piece on this Russian and I got the impression that he was a Russian mafia boss. But Stern took the money anyway. MLB is more selective of their owners. The current owners don't want somebody that's gonna spend a lot on players in an uncapped league. Hell, they wouldn't let Mark Cuban buy the Cubs.

The show is the terminally ill patient.

You may be mental. I'm pretty sure I am.

Yep. And after he comes in to fend off the shield from beating cena to earn his title shot at mania, Terry will be aglow with extra $$$ earned from his part-time gig with the E.

Actually, is it possible for Terry to intervene in the Rumbel via an ISDN line? That'd be easier for all parties involved =D

Carriage fees for cable channels are escalating at an unsustainable pace. When people who don't watch sports realize they're paying $5/month (or more, as they go up) for ESPN, $3 for the Big Ten, so on, so forth, the entire business model will have to move to something, if not pure a la carte, more flexible. Or carriage fees will have to go down. Either way, the days of the Rangers or Dodgers getting billions of dollars from RSNs will come to an end soon. I was talking to my aunt about cable and Roku and stuff. She teaches at her dance school in the evening and handles the business side of it in the afternoon. She still has full digital cable with a thousand channels she doesn't watch, especially not ESPN. She said "I don't even look at the cable bill anymore. [Her husband] does. If I ever did, I'd stop paying."

This may be true but if I recall correctly deals like the rangers and dodgers got were for like 20 years. As for the yankees they own the RSN.

The other missile coming in to burst the cable escalation bubble will be Internet. There is a generation of people coming into being the major consumer segment that doesn't watch television "live."
