Saw it tonight with my wife. We both enjoyed it. Would recommend it.

Royce White probably wouldn't like it, however.

Just saw this last night, really really liked it. David O. Russell seems to be on top of his game now. Bradley Cooper and Lawrence were both outstanding....even Deniro shows flashes of his greatness. Will definitely be nominated for multiple Oscars. Should be a good race/debate between this, Lincoln, Argo, and Zero Dark Thirty.

Much to my chagrin, saw this with the lady friend this weekend. Very glad she talked me into it, as it was one of the most enjoyable film experiences I've had in a while. Lots of good performances and I really liked the endgame.

Saw this last night. It was a pretty enjoyable movie overall. I was a bit surprised that it was probably considered
more a comedy than any kind of dramatic film, even though they touch on a lot of aspects of mental illness. I
walked out satisfied but surprised that it got so many Oscar nominations. Lawrence and Cooper were definitely
good. DeNiro was also pretty good as the father. How the mom got an Oscar nod I have no idea. She really
didn't even have much of a part in the movie, half the shots of her were just closeups of her reaction to different
situations. Unless you are just dying to see it I would just wait and make it a solid rental or on demand choice.

I will not allow this to be posted without props. This has a Don Tiny'ish ring to it. Well done.

i sometimes question myself if there are any true great filmmakers, consistent filmmakers, that put in great efforts or at least good efforts every time they make a film. we're far removed from the golden age of writer/directors in the 70's but David O. Russell is one of the few that just never seems to disappoint me. Ever since "Spanking the Monkey" through "The Fighter", he's made some excellent films.

This is a thoroughly entertaining and sometimes poingant film not so much about mental illness, but its affects on others. the most obvious character is the main character who is probably the fictional counterpart to russell's real life persona. the guy is nuts. but he seems to want his heart in the right place. his illness has alienated him from most people, including himself, who can't seem to admit who he is to himself. tiffany is similar, creating a world for herself and living in a shell, but sees something inside pat (cooper) that he doesn't see. the two of them are good for each other because they're so bad for themselves, and even though it's pretty clear that they're going to get together...the journey is well worth the trip. it's funny, it's painful, it's captivating, and it's touching.

i also loved the touch of the eagles fan syndrome. these guys can't help but be violent. deniro reminds me of an uncle i have that used to get crazy at eagles games. he wasn't officially banned from the park but he had a few incidents in his younger years before he cleaned himself up.

all in all, this is not only a great movie, it's a great relationship movie. bring your significant other for sure. it's not a chick flick by any means, but i would say you have a good chance for getting lucky after something like this.

:D :D :D out of :D :D :D :D

While I'd rather see all the guys here in a movie I have to settle for Bradley Cooper.

Loved the movie.

Good movie. If Cooper portrayed a person in duress better, this could be a great movie.

i was at a movie theatre during the week (had to go see the ahnold movie. gotta reward hollywood for getting back to its tried-n-true tropes) and i noticed a gaggle of old ladies outside of the doors for the screen that was showing silver linings playbook.

this wasn't that weird self-indulgent billy crystal movie, was it? you know, the one that got him plastered all over ESPN with everyone creepily worshipping his every pedestrian word like it was comedic genius, meanwhile his forehead got 33% smoother cuz i think it's got cyborg technology installed that automatically performs facelifts every 5 mins while nobody's looking. seriously, who the fuck wants to see a billy crystal star-vehicle flick nowadays? self-indulgent hollywood crap tossing the guy a bone for..... i have no idea what.

if you wanna give me self-indulgent hollywood crap, give me ahnold. there's a reason people elected him governor: PEOPLE LIKE HIM. EVEN IN A SHIT MOVIE LIKE ERASER PEOPLE WALK OUT OF THE THEATRE LOOKING AT EACH OTHER AND SAYING "YAHHHHH LUGGAGE" AND CRACKING THE FUCK UP. I GUAR-AN-FUCKING-TEE YOU NOBODY WALKS OUT OF A BILLY CRYSTAL MOVIE LOOKING AT EACH OTHER SAYING HIS FUNNIEST QUIP, NAMELY CUZ LIKE, AS ESPN TAUGHT ME, EVERYTHING THE MAN SAYS IS A FUCKING COMEDY GOLDMINE. SHOMER SHABBOS!

back to the silver linings playbook, i can dutifully report that there was indeed a line of silver-lined-hair all rip-roaring and ready to go to see this one. it sounds like a thoughtful movie that grandma might like, eh?

Despite all evidence to the contrary, I'm going to assume that this movie is what I thought it was after seeing a 10 second commercial preview for it. A stupid chick flick about a former Eagles player (Cooper) who has a catasrophic injury and is nursed to health by his irascible yet deep down kind hearted personal trainer (Lawrence).

Late to the party I know, but we rented this on Friday evening and watched it. Pretty good. Kind of sappy at some parts, but pretty funny during others. I was glad I saw it.

Great movie! Easily one of the best I've seen in the past few years.
