Don't ever gloss over "Backseat of My Jeep" or "I Need Love".

Don't ever gloss over "Backseat of My Jeep" or "I Need Love".

I Need Love struck me as the rap equivalent of some bad Hard Rock band ballad. Scorpions penned several of these. Keep it.

At first blush, I would probably be in the group that makes fun of Hall and Oates. I certainly did when my brother in law declared them his favorite group. They are two ugly guys who were forced to make it at the advent of music video popularity.

However, when you really look at their work, you have to admire the music and the longevity of their peak. They also did a great Christmas song cover. I would have figured the basketball fans in the group would have remembered and loved "One on One" for the way it was used in basketball promotions

 A young beni was compared to a young Mr. Hall. Similar hairs, but his was better. I do remember the basketball piece and had a favorable opinion.

Yeah, I can't go for that. No can do.

That show Live from Darryl's House is some really good stuff if you havent tuned in yet.

Part of the price of that selling out is people forgetting the beginning.

Rakim did nothing but destroy

And as much as I like Around the Way Girl....it does still have a little bit of the pre school rhyming.

So long as you are cashing the royalty checks, you are as defined by the worst music in your catalogue as the best, and arguably more so, because the worst stuff probably sold better. If your the Bee Gees, and "Stayin' Alive" underwrote the candelabra-shaped swimming pool in your vacation home, then you're the "Stayin' Alive" guys. period. Full stop. Live with it. And I'm looking right at you, too, John Mayer. You aren't nailing Jennifer Aniston or Taylor Swift or Esther Rolle or whomever because your a shredding blues guitarist. It's because of the "Your Body is a Tilt a Whirl" dreck and the ensuing bucketloads of currency. Own it.

It is a good 30 minutes. Some of his guests match him much better than others. Hit the Smokey Robinson episode. Also better than average were Fitz & Tantrums, Blind Boys of Alabama, and I believe Grace Potter. Some of the new acts he has paired with aren't good. IMO it is best to avoid Train and the like.

The Beach Boys are those guys that should have put Mike Love on an ice floe and pushed it out to sea .

I don't know about that. I would consider 95% of their catalog complete garbage. Even the stuff from the 70's.

I like some of it, but no doubt the hardcore Aerosmith fan would point to that era

My Top 10 Aerosmith songs:

You See Me Cryin'
No More, No More
Sick as a Dog
Seasons of Wither
Round and Round
Woman of the World
Mama Kin
One Way Street
Adam's Apple
Last Child

Pretty sure those top out at around 1976  .
