I have a question for you guitar guys. I have built a guitar out of two old ones I acquired. I am getting some hum/noise from the bridge and middle pick ups. This may be shielding from the wiring not sure yet. Just to be sure though do any of you have a correct distance between pick up and the string?

Are your pickups grounded? Doesn't sound like it. Are they single coil pickups? If so, then that just happens because of the wiring...picks up RF signals.

Just make sure that your pickups are lower than the fretwire and you'll be fine.
