hey KS, i'm sure it's been asked ad nauseum.... but why are you doing this again?
i'm talking about the beneath-the-surface psychological reasoning here... is it just a way for everyone to have a popularity contest and make everyone feel good (i.e. just about everyone listed in every round at least got a few votes, ergo even if you "lose" it'll make you go "hey, people voted for me! yay me! i'm going to rock it out hard over the next few years and be a shoe-in"
or is it 100% circlejerk to recognize the people who have spent the most time here posting, and ergo have become the most memorable/favorited?
is it a focus group to show an aspiring future GOAT poster what kind of a cut he has to apply to his proverbial jib in order to be beloved by the masses here?
or is it just an arbitrary power grab/display/etc, insomuchas He who controls the HOF vote controls the heart and soul of the community, and therefore by removing yourself from the running early on you can fake nobility and whatnot and get to the real point that you're such an institution of the CSFMB that when you up and declare an impromptu HOF contest that the shit-flung-against-the-wall indeed sticks and therefore you're validated?
as much as i'd love to crusade about the potential psychology/psychologies/sociology/sociologies of this thread, at the same time, i dont wanna come off as a two-bit hater or anything... i'm just trying to understand it so, obviously, i'm a shoo-in for the HOF vote next time. i was something like a handful of votes away from making it to the finals, where indeed i had no chance.... and while i arbitrarily love that cuz it embodies the location field of SHARK's profile, still, on my old posting-grounds i was an inaugural/first-generation "lifetime member" who got access to the then-secret "lifetime members" subforum.... and let me tell you something, if you ever get this official as to where HOF members have a secret subforum where they can congregate and pass judgment on others in a semi-/private location, welp, you're on the path. one of the pastimes of the LTM board was, indeed, having that subforum exist in the perpetual state of grace that is essentially being the board two years ago, and of course, the perpetual votes on whether or not others should be invited to join the ranks.... ahh the good ol days, gotta love forums where 75% of the posts are like "OMFG LOOK AT THAT DUMB MINI DITKA THREAD" etc etc
