@ RPB, Beardown is taking the paraphrase license pretty far on this quote. In context it wasn't horrible. The caller made a general reference to religious suppression and how others might not understand it. Bernstein didn't mention Hitler, but did indicate his ancestors knew about such matters as 6 million of them were killed in gas chambers. Again, a difficult response, but not a horrible response. Happened right after the 2 PM hour.

The caller kept talking about the "African American Religious Experience"....which in itself was an eyeroller, but then he said that no one else could understand because no other people had to rely upon religion to get through times of difficulty, thus the "African American Religious Experience" was something no one could understand. In which Dan brought up the oppression of Jews, I thought he was going to talk about the the Jews/Egypt/Slavery thing, but he said his ancestors were gassed to death.
