Somebody finally posted these up on Youtube. This is a hard to find out of print Tom Petty tribute album. A lot of Chicago guys on this one. Pretty interesting for Petty fans. Standout tracks are Tim Rutili's version of "Southern Accents" and this one by Fig Dish:

Yep - "You Got Lucky". I have this on CD, and I agree with your 2 picks. Love Fig Dish and Red Red Meat.

Sounds like Alice in Chains. Probably can't be considered lyrically brilliant, it's a bit repetitive, but otherwise musically solid, albeit it uninspiring. It sounds as if you could stick it anywhere on Black Gives Way to Blue and it would fit. I doubt this is the cream of the forthcoming crop, and I look forward to picking it up when it's released. Good to see new material from them.

Speaking of Alice in Chains.... saw an old copy at the store a few weeks ago and was tempted but didn't pick
it up. Nice track off the album http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fm72DPJCX58

Also saw you can listen to the whole album on one You Tube posting

1/13/2013 8:30 PM ET

The grunge rock supergroup Mad Season has announced plans to reissue its one and only studio release, Above, later this year. The group is made up of Alice in Chains frontman Layne Staley, Pearl Jam guitarist Mike McCready and drummer Barrett Martin.

The re-release is set for April and will feature a selection of previously unreleased material and remixes. The new edition will feature the complete 1995 album, a copy of the band's DVD Live at the Moore, as well as a video of the band's 1995 New Year's Eve performance at the former RKCNDY in Seattle.

That's cool. I really like that Mad Season album.

Wake Up might just be my favorite Layne Staley track, AIC included.

Mac and Spiegs should stick to playing generic classic rock, because whenever they play anything good it serves as a reminder that I could be listening to something better than their show.

Swing.... how was this? I wanted to pick it up this week. Listened to a few tracks on YouTube but
couldn't get the total vibe of the album. I have his LP with some John Lennon songs and really
enjoy it so I had high hopes for his solo debut.

If I said that it sounds exactly how you think it would by looking at the album cover, would you know what I mean? It has the same airiness as that George Harrison Tribute does, but it's not as stripped down- those were pretty much straightforward acoustic tracks. It has elements of Radiohead (though not as complex), but it's light rather than heavy. It's a short one (under 40 minutes) - after one listen I can clearly point out instances that I know will end up getting stuck in my head sooner or later.

Cool. The tracks I listened to on You Tube kind of gave me the thoughts you described. I will likely pick it up since
I am a fan and will enjoy a majority of it.

Curious to see what you think. I'll be up at Pabst Theatre in Milwaukee and at The Vic the night after to see him tour behind this release (late-April). The reviews I've read of the shows already played have been good, and it looks like Carl Broemel (My Morning Jacket guitarist) joins him onstage for an encore of 4 or 5 MMJ songs after the main set (which is made up entirely of this album). Also read that the album holds up well live.

I will let you know for sure. I think I am going to pick it up tomorrow and will likely listen to it while doing my
taxes. I will need something to chill me out while I do those. I saw he was coming through the area but decided
to hold onto my money for the time being. I'll let you know if I change my mind on the Milwaukee show though.
