that's a double IPA. you don't mess with those less you want the mess. i think that one's 11.5% alcohol...i remember drinking half a 4 pack...somehow the rest got drunk too. somehow, somewhere...

I saw this recipe for a Perfect Martini on Facebook the other day:

Step 1: Put the gin, vermouth and olives in the garbage
Step 2: Pour a glass of Bourbon

Most first-time drinkers of Jeppson Malort reject the liquor. Its strong, sharp taste is not for everyone. Their liquor is rugged and unrelenting (even brutal) to the palate. During almost 60 years of American distribution, they've found only 1 out of 49 men will drink Jeppson Malort. During the lifetime of our founder, Carl Jeppson was apt to say, "My Malort is produced for that unique group of drinkers who disdain light flavor or neutral spirits."

It certainly is not possible to forget their two-fisted liquor. The taste just lingers and lasts - seemingly forever. The first shot is hard to swallow! PERSERVERE. Make it past two "shock-glasses" and with the third you could be theirs... forever.

My buddy has a bottle under his bar. I did a shot once. For the next hour, it tasted like someone pooped in my mouth. Nothing else I drank could remove this awful taste. Not for me. I just pour some bourbon or scotch when I go there now.

Go on BeerAdvocate and if you can search their old threads try and find one where people are discussing what counts as an actual "session" beer. Be warned you may want to stab yourself. That place is/was (I no longer visit the site) like reddit for beer geeks, just full of motherfuckers one upping each other or extolling the virtues and exclusivity of whatever nano brewery, tucked away in some shit corner of America, just happened to brew the greatest one-off triple IPA and you'll never get to try it because only friends of the owner with the right tattoo and beard combination are even allowed to sniff the thing. Ugggghhh.

Beeradvocate has always been a douchebag haven. The guys that run it, the almstrom brothers are epic dickheads especially todd. You want to talk about pruning......these guys prune the fuck out of everything. If you said anything off topic...lifetime ban, spoke of another site...lifetime ban. You had to pass some grace period to have reviews count. This was probably 6-8 years ago. I had an account that lasted for about 2 days.

I went to Ratebeer for my beer related needs and it was a pretty cool place like this.....for a while. Off topic stuff up the ass. Mostly fun stories, general drunken fucking around and good beer and brewery information. Then 5 years ago it got serious with mostly arrogant, hipster beer nerds. All the fun was gone. Its basically how you described beer advocate.

Your session is not going to be very long if you are drinking that.

Thats like when i tried to make sierra nevada bigfoot a session beer one night. Not exactly an easy 6 pack to drink in one sitting.

A couple years ago, I tried to drink an entire six pack of hopslam in one night. That didn't end well...

For the Colts/Saints Superbowl, I purchased a 5L mini keg of Hopslam. There were only three of us drinking it. I was blind by the end of the night.

+1

I really enjoy it fresh at the Brewpub. Awfully good.

Since it is 5.1% ABV, beer snobs will probably tell you that it isn't a true session beer, but I consider it to be one.

Beer snobs can kiss the back end of my palate. Considering I usually drink 7.5-10% beers, 5.1% is well within session range for me.

I don't really care what they call a beer, as long as it's hoppy with a malt mix, with a pleasant aroma, tastes amazing and gives me a nice warm feeling. 8) :drunken:
