From the time Curtis Granderson was a prep star at TF South, he has been a standout individual. Not only a star athlete, but a National Honors student, he went on to star at UIC, before being drafted into MLB and starring for the Tigers and Yankees. Now, he's donated money to build a new Baseball stadium at UIC, to be used not only by the University, but for kids aged 6-18 in programs designed to instruct and develop young chicago athletes in the great sport of Baseball. He never forgot where he came from and is giving back to the community. Class act.

He went to T.F. South.

I saw him play a couple of games in 2000 at UIC.

Oh, yeah I know he definitely played there.

But when a kid is really good at sports sometimes they end up at a public school in a different area.

Dwayne Wade should have gone to Shepard but he ended up at Richards.

Maybe he used a relatives address.

BTW, our very own Free Ajent played on a team with him. They're tight. He's "C.J." to Pitbu....err Free Ajent

He grew up in Lynwood. His Father and Mother were teachers (as is his 1/2 sister-professor at Jackson State)

This is probably the first time ever (and maybe only time) that Elmhurst Steve has given a shoutout to a black man.

No-actually, I gave a shoutout to Mario Van Peebles in the past (on this board) as well.

But lets keep race out of this anyway. Granderson is well deserving of the shoutout and race plays no part in it.

This must be part of the New Steve you were rambling about the other day.

He shouted out "Freeze!" several times as a law enforcement officer.
