I receive many goofy right-wing emails every week, containing pieces like this. I save the good ones. The following might be my favorite. This was sent to me by a very conservative guy, who is always complaining about freedoms being taken away. My favorite part is bolded. We need to stand up for our freedom, by not allowing somebody the freedom to show a movie.

The right never wants to emulate those socialists in Europe, except for when it's convenient. I call this the Scorehead provision.

As a play, this has already been in theatres for a while. It's called " Corpus Christi " which means "The Body of Christ". It's revolting mockery of our Lord. But we can make a difference. That's why I am sending this e-mail to you. If you do send this around, we just might be able to prevent this film from showing in America . Let's stand for what we believe in and stop the mockery of Jesus Christ our Savior. Where do we stand as Christians? At the risk of a bit of inconvenience, I'm forwarding this to all I think would appreciate it, too. Please help us prevent such offenses against our Lord. There is no petition to sign, no time limit, or minimum number of people to send this to.. It will take you less than 2 minutes! If you are not interested and do not have the 2 minutes it will take to do this, please don't complain when God does not have time for you because He is far busier than we are. Hey, it's worth a shot! Apparently, some regions in Europe have already banned the film. All we need is a lot of prayer and a lot of e-mails.

The film maker has a right to make and show this movie, even if it offends Christians.

Sure, but actively lobbying to stop a movie from being shown goes against everything for which this country stands. The guy who sent this email is often talking about our Constitutional rights being taken away by the evil Obama, so this smacks of hypocrisy.

I wonder if he would have the same feelings if some Muslims were outraged by a movie, or a cartoon image of their God? I doubt it.

This was just one email out of many. Picture Jimmy Reardon's posts, and that's what the majority of his emails are like. I do think he knows that an article from the Onion is satire, and not real news.

I think the group formerly known as the middle class is frustrated with their rising struggle and relish any oppurtunity to say how hard they work.

I don't remember ever hearing anyone bitch about these things til the last 10-15 years where it seems common


There are abusers in every program but its likely a low percentage and proportionate to how much money this country wastes/loses in other ways its ridiculous to act like its such a big part of our economic woes

Also, as has been said hee recently you never know what a strangers situation is.


I'm not in favor of expanding it. I think they should monitor abuse but its just not important enough to be on the radar

Oh and comparing people to animals is usually a poor choice

I liked the Van Halen version of 1984 better

Great opening track.

From the opening layered synth and sound effects you just knew that Eddie Van Halen was driving the train on this one. There was some glimpses of hard rock n' roll to break through the pop-synth sound, but not enough....little did we know that The Red Rocker was waiting in the wings.

Also, RPB, I don't think it's an abuse thing, that's a misdirection, I think that the ever expanding welfare state with all of it's various programs/transfer payments/etc. are increasing in usage (especially Food Stamps) and that instead of it being a safety net it has instead become something that more and more "middle class" people have to use to survive in one way or another. It used to be easy/cheap money and credit that masked the decline in real incomes and helped maintain a standard of living, now it's debt AND welfare/transfer that are needed to keep ones head above water. And that means more and more people/families are reliant on various forms of govt. for survival. The bottom of the pyramid is now becoming more and more dependent on the elite for basic needs. That isn't be accident, either, and it is truly scary.

That screed you posted thinks it's being clever, but it totally misses the deeper and more troubling truth....plenty of people know how to fish but they aren't necessarily able to catch enough to feed themselves, anymore.

I get it. Destitute people should stick to rooting through garbage cans.

The problem is the middle class see the people who pull up to a primary care station in a Mercedes then pull out their public Aid card when asked for insurance. Or see the guy pull out a stack of 100s to get his link card out to pay for food at Walmart.

They don't see our government paying 5,000 dollars for a box of nails or the millions in corporate welfare to bank representatives. It obviously cost a more, but it is not what people see.

The right of Catholics to not pay for birth control trumps the rights of people who work for Catholic places to damn themselves to hell by using it. It's in the Constitution.
