The gluten thing

Isn't there somewhere that provides a gluten-free host? I would think with entire stores for that now that you could find a service that takes that into consideration.

A host must be made up of wheat flour. There are hosts with trace amounts of gluten. Even those hosts make me ill.

A host that makes me ill is Dan Bernstein.

The mass is a sacrifice. It's a place to bring whatever you have and unite to the ultimate sacrifice which we remember in each mass. Whatever you have good or bad, it is the place to offer it to God in the way he left us.

So, do you have to really watch to make sure they don't dunk the host in the wine?

And just the whole mass thing itself is questionable. It's really so hypocritical. All week long, so many people break all kinds of commandments and what not, and then because they go to an hour long service - all is forgiven?

"The just man sins seven times a day"

Forgiveness is a process psychologically, but we are forgiven by God when we ask for it, and make a commitment to avoid the same behavior in the future. That doesn't mean we don't commit the same sins. And often times repeatedly. We need to have a desire to avoid it.

how do you handle the subtleties of the scripture and the historical perspective that you may not have studied. The Catholic bible is heavily annotated and even that does not give a full perspective. Many evangelical bibles do not carry annotation as they believe, like you seem to, that you just pick up the book and the depth of what was written through the ages is immeditaely available to you.

However, the mass is more than scripture and bible study or celebration if you are a true believer. God is actually present, not metaphorically. If you believe that to be true you would be foolish to waste the time.

Keeping Score is apparently going to church in 1961.

Do you wear a suit on an airplane, too?

No, he just goes to church in Appleton where dressing up IS jeans and a Tshirt.

I think the idea is to focus more on the things you can do to earn your way into Heaven rather than figure out the absolute most you can get away with without going to Hell.

Still though, explain the process. Do you go to hell or is it ok? Or does going to confession take care of it? And if so, can you just rinse repeat this process forever?

This was essentially answered already with your question on going to Hell with meat on Fridays.

It's one Guy's/Gal's call and His/Her determination on how well and in what spirit you did the things that were expected of you. I think Seacrest explained the Confession procedure on what is expected to get forgiveness.

Why would God allow that to be done to such young innocent children?

God gave Man free will.

You are forgiven what ever you seek forgiveness for.

And the judgement described by Christ describes those on his right and others on his left. What he discusses is not what we did, but we didn't do.

People make mistakes. God knows better than any of us why people do things. Emotional, personal and psychological pressures go in to decisions of all types.

I don't believe tha we can earn heaven , but we can make ourselves more available to the possibility by how we treat God first and then others.

Are Catholics no better or no worse than any other religion as well as non religious people?

Each religion teaches that they are the one and true path to God and all the others are shit out of luck.

Imagine a God experiment. I put 3 people with 1 each in 3 different rooms. These are blank slate individuals that only really know what I tell them.

In each room, I put what would resemble a shoebox on a table in the middle.

Room 1: I tell them the shoebox is called a “Box” and that everytime I put a piece of paper in the room, they need to put it in the box – without question.

Room 2: I tell them the shoebox is called a “Box” and that everytime I put a piece of paper in the room, they need to do whatever they can to NOT put it in the box – without question.

Room 3: I tell them the shoebox is called a “Sphere” and I don’t even bother mentioning or doing anything with paper.

When #1 meets #2, they are going to fundamentally disagree with what should be done with the paper. However, they are both doing the correct thing because it was what they’ve been told is the right thing to do. #3 isn’t even going to know what a Box is and think they are both crazy.

They are all right from their own perspective and the Experimenter as the Experimenter has given them the information he deemed necessary to accomplish what he expects from them. They are all performing different tests even though you might think they are all part of the same test because they are all in the same building.

Not saying I believe this exactly but I consider it from time to time.

Sure, but you have to realize that the people teaching that are human and therefore flawed.
