There's just no indisputable evidence for either side. I don't like to think I'm better than, or that my beliefs are better than or truer than anothers.

This. Jesus said, "If you are not against us, you are with us." This is different than if you are not with us you are against us which seems is how many people view their own religions.

To me, "If you are not against us, you are with us" preaches acceptance of all non-violent people (yes including gayes) and their religions.

In listening to the "Christians" on this board- Don Tiny excepted- it's pretty clear why Christianity is a religion on the wane while Islam is on the rise. I hardly think you will be able to find many Muslims who will agree that your God is equal to theirs. While you are elevating Allah to sit at the same table with Yahweh, they are planning to cut your head off for suggesting Jesus is greater than Muhammad. "There is no God but God and Muhammad is his Prophet." That isn't some innocuous religious dogma. That's a manifesto. That's a threat.

I'm cool losing the fanaticism battle.

Good works will not get you into heaven. Rick, have you accepted Jesus Christ as your personal savior?
I guess I have. I'm not that concerned. I'm going to argue myself in.

Except the absurd drug part.

More than likely, Catholicism probably isn't for me. But I was born into it, and my mother is darn near a patron saint of the religion.

I'm sure there's not a religion that fits me. I also don't think you need a specific religion to be in touch with God and to carry out his greater agenda, and to ultimately be accepted into his kingdom.
You can still use drugs. Just use the moral ones.

So, Keeping Score has all the unanswerable questions that children usually have about catholicism

Its not about getting into heaven or following a set of rules. Its about faith. Spend less time worrying about what you and others wear to church and what they may be thinking and more time developing your faith, if thats what you want.

The Catholic church does not condone living together or sexual relations before marriage.

The rise in failed marriages, unwanted children and pregnancies and the percenatge of failed marriages where this has occurred seems to show that God may be on to something.

Are couples with a ring, a piece of paper and a title more in love and care about each other more than those couples that don't make it "Official"?

Take religion and love out of the equation. "Official" formalizes the committment.

It is kind of like pinky promising versus signing a contract. The intent of the person making the promise may be the same. The gravity of the committment in the eyes of just about everyone is not.

I think Judaism is the best religion. The way it's idealistic and pragmatic at the same time really appeals to me.

The whole Friday night thing wouldn't fly with my social agenda and those suits look so uncomfortable during the summer.

Jesus was a Jew and the apostles continued to think of themselves that way even after his death.

Yet another odd ritual.
So is wearing a yarmulke and praying 7 times a day while facing a certain direction. All religions have strange traditions.

Uh. You talked about an odd catholic ritual. I merely pointed out that other religions also have some strange rituals.

Read the title Frank. I'm not here to talk about Yarmulkeicism.

How come people don't have dip for dinner? Why is it only a snack, why can't it be a meal, you know? I don't understand stuff like that.

I don't know if you've watched the Manedlbaum episode of Seinfeld way too much, but nobody but you is making any reference to having some bizarre mindset of "you think you're better than me".

Just remember that the "smartest" theologian amongst us has a flimsier grasp of God and everything else than your pet does of what happens when you go to work.

Your sins are forgiven via Christ, not anything else ... no other god, not how many times you pray or put money in the plate or hold your tongue or don't steal or avert your gaze from a nice set of tits. You're forgiven, you're all good w/ God in that respect, go live your life as you see fit. Relax for crying out loud. God created basketball as much as the clear evening sky or eggs benedict with asparagus and extra hollandaise.

God gives pointers and "suggestions" as to how to live properly for your own sake, we all ignore most of it, and still wonder why we find ourselves madder than a raped ape and up to our eyeballs in shit and misery. We're dumb; we're all dumb. But He loves us anyway, and we'll get a clear understanding of the whole fuckpile of life once we're out and gone. Relax; nobody gets out of here alive anyway.

True. And they do. Thanks. Are you Catholic?

The seller used to break a clump of mud or break a stick over the buyer's head in order to finalize a real estate purchase back in the days when men were men. There are strange traditions in just about everything we do.

Hell, 75% of us are walking around with sliced wangs mainly out of tradition.
