For clarification, I meant Sweetcheeks and her former husband.

The drivers that were asked about this dating gossip bullshit didn't seem very thrilled. I think Jamie Mac voiced his opinion quite loudly.

Danny lasted 2 laps into last years Daytona 500, then she wrecked. Maybe she'll make it to 3 laps this year. How many laps will she lead in this years race?

What's the answer? I'll say at least 1. What do you say?

Not wrecked. Collected by that hack Jimmie Johnson and Elliot Sadler's wreck.

I believe Trevor Bayne led one (1) lap a couple years ago.

Since nobody else wants to answer this, I'll give mine.

I'd say anything in the top 20 is a tremendously successful season. I'd say the expectation should be 21-25 and anything outside the top 25 would be disappointing.

In other years, that's an easy over.

But, based on what we saw this week, whoever gets that first lead is going to lead a bunch of laps to start. I would put that money on Gordon over Patrick.

However, if she gets that first lead, the over is done in about 4 minutes. So, I'd throw a bet on the over.

I don't think she makes it half a lap with the lead. Gordon will be starting next to her with Rowdy and Harvick in the 2nd row. Those guys know getting the lead first is huge with this new car and they will rattle her chain and take that spot.

I agree.

But, in her 6 races there, she's led 4 of them for a total of 29 laps. So, it's not out of the question that she could get that first lead and, if she does, she'll keep it for a few laps.

But, I'd bet Gordon gets it before her.

They will let them use backup cars if they crash within the first 5 laps. Like they did with the open wheel US 500 at Michigan once upon a time. Where is spany to regale us with that tale??

Daytona 500 ratings up 30% from last year.

Early buzz was Travis Kvapil's return to the 500 for the first time since 2011 is the likely cause.

Good point.

Quote:
Daytona 500 Ratings: Danica Lifts Overnights to Seven-Year High

Fueled by a contending Danica Patrick, the Daytona 500 returned to form in the television ratings Sunday afternoon.

Sunday’s NASCAR Sprint Cup Daytona 500 earned a 10.0 overnight rating on FOX, up 30 from last year’s Monday night race (7.7), and up 22% from 2011 (8.2). The race peaked with a 12.8 overnight from 4:30-4:45 PM ET, topping last year’s peak quarter-hour of 9.2 by 39%.

According to FOX, the 10.0 overnight is the best for the Daytona 500 since the 2006 race on NBC (10.1). That 2006 race had a lead-in from the Winter Olympics and finished as the highest rated and most-viewed Daytona 500 ever.

Unlike other sporting events, such as the NBA or Major League Baseball, final ratings for NASCAR typically increase from the overnight. Over the past five years, final ratings for the race have risen between 4% and 15% from the overnight, putting Sunday’s race on pace to finish in the 10.4-11.5 range. The record-setting 2006 race had an 11.3 final rating.

Sunday’s race benefited from days of intense hype surrounding Patrick, who last week became the first woman to win the pole for any NASCAR event. Patrick mostly validated the hype, becoming the first woman to ever lead the Daytona 500 and running in the top three late in the race.

Nope. I said 3 in another thread.

Danny should benefit greatly from the Gen 6 race car. Since you cant run this car within 4 feet of another car, she is somewhat protected from the usual bumping & banging that used to be prevalent in Nascar racing. Yesterdays Daytona 500 looked like the cars were made out of crystal, with everyone avoiding contact & confrontation. If this continues throughout the season, there will be changes to this car soon & rightly so. Hopefully the non restrictor plate races will be better. What I saw yesterday was the worst racing I have ever seen.

Was attendance up? I figured the free engine giveaway to a random trackside attendee they tried the day before would help.

How will this new fan base react this coming week when drivers will be required to drive during the race instead of putting their foot on the floor and hoping nothing bad happens?
