I don't think there's any "hate" involved, and I certainly don't think Mac got Goff fired, but I do love watching people talk themselves into believing the Score is a big happy family of rational, mature, well-adjusted adults just because they don't want to agree with Beardown.

Mac and Jason were definitely at odds.

But no Mac didnt get him fired. Maybe the Finfer thing played a small part in Jason realizing his oppurtunites were drying up, but a small part at most.

I'm curious about this as well. Saying Goff and Mac don't hate eachother is worlds away from saying everyone in the Score loves eachother.

What this board narrative presupposes is that Jason Goff was fired at the Battle of DaaaMaanaaeel, what the Beardown narrative presupposes is that he wasn't....

Do not make the mistake of underestimating the pettiness of the average WSCR employee. We are talking about people that spend fifteen minutes on air talking about a short timer salesman with a drinking problem years after he is gone.

Dave in Champaign only deals in extremes in one direction or another.

That Goff job (so hot) didn't just appear out of thin air. I would think he had been working on that for a while before it was offered to him. Finfer being named McNeil's sub was coincidental to the job being offered and accepted. He would have been a fool to even think about staying for part time work when a full time job in a major market was offered.

Mc Neil and Goff had some issues. They both seem like the type who would let it be known and talk it out rather than taking the backbiting route like so many did with Murph.

Quite possibly one of my favorite scenes from any movie. I also loved the Ben Stiller - Owen Wilson fight at the end when they both admit that they are both total messes.

Best sequence in the movie, measured by songs, is "Judy Is a Punk"/"Needle in the Hay"/"Fly"/"She Smiled Sweetly"/"Ruby Tuesday."

The only 2 seconds I ever was attracted to Gwyneth Paltrow was during that Judy is a Punk scene when she was in the pink bikini marrying the Rasta

My favorite scene is Gene Hackman talking to the kids when they were still young

Young Ben: Is it our fault?

Royal: Well, certainly we made a lot of sacrifices as a result of having children....but no.

Set the tone for the whole film

Mac tried to talk out their issues. He confronted Goff about a "Da Ma Na" thing that I had mentioned on the board. Goff, while not denying it, blamed me and avoided the issue like a weezle.

At that point, I'm guessing Mac decided it wasn't worth dealing with him. Enter Finfer as Mac's full time sub. It was over. That move was Mac's win without saying anything to Goff. Like JORR said, Goff wasn't a worthy opponent for Mac so he really didn't go hard at him.

Also, Mac has been accused of being racist throughout his career. He's not. But if Mac were to really take on Goff, the "Looking for racism" people of the world would say it's cuz Mac hates black people. I don't think Mac wanted to deal with that. Wasn't worth it.

I have no idea where love or hate came into this; the goalposts appear to have been moved several times throughout the thread. I'm talking solely about the eminently reasonable argument of Beardown's OP (i.e., that McNeil's ballbusting at least partially serious) and about the immediate board response of "IT WAS JUST A JOKE ARE YOU SAYING PEOPLE WHO WORK AT THE SCORE MIGHT NOT GET ALONG??? JEEZELY CROW TAKE OFF THE TINFOIL HAT BEARDOWN."

Or maybe he realized he's not good enough to warrant a regular shift because he's not. If his bosses at the Score thought he could bring ratings ( and revenue) , they wouldve found him a regular shift. Obviously they didnt and he had plenty of chances to make his mark and failed. Abbattacola is going down the same road. He'll always have 5hr energy reads though.

Brogue, I certainly respect your opinion but I've always thought your Goff criticisms were overly harsh.
