Does Reggie Rose speak for Derrick Rose? Dan's sources say who the fuck knows. But let's not let that get in the way of spending a segment discussing it some more. If anyone is interested in finding out the real answer maybe they should "ask tough questions" and get a response straight from the horse's mouth.
I'm trying to follow but I'm not listening to the show and I'm not sure what your complaint is. Are you annoyed that they're still talking about it or that they don't have enough information?
My annoyance with them, and I know I'm not exactly breaking new ground here but, is the constant couching of everything they say while demanding everyone else to either "ask the tough questions" or "get to the damn point/what
specifically are you trying to say".
To be fair I think they dropped the Reggie Rose talk almost immediately, but they picked up guarding their statements again right after than with the basketball hell discussion. I picked up the tail end of a caller talking about throwing the dice with OJ Mayo. They shrugged it off as a stupid statement (which it may well be) because OJ Mayo isn't the guy that's going to put you over the top. Terry proceeded to say you need a legit number two guy, he mentioned James Harden as a possibility but wasn't sure if
that would be a game changer. Shit, if James Harden doesn't do anything for you Terry who
should the Bulls be interested in? Dan appeared to walk back Terry's ridiculousness by essentially saying that it would be nice to have LeBron or Durant on the Bulls but you're going to have to look elsewhere for a legit number one or two player. Of course Dan didn't say
who that person might be only that that person might exist on some NBA team or somewhere in college.
Taking calls about what's going to get the Bulls out of NBA hell is ridiculous because Dan and Terry's position isn't a position. It's just them throwing their hands up in the air and acting befuddled. Anyone who calls in is always going to look like an idiot if the only correct opinion is "I don't know".
Edit: I think uofiguy said the same thing in fewer words.
The Mayo dismissal was the PTFB point for me (they're coming easier). One can't be too cool for school to entertain discussion and in the next breath start talking ultimate meatballism by stating the team needs only to get the top 1 or 2 player at a given position to make them true contenders.
Sad to say but the diminishing returns on the entertainment value of this approach to a listenable radio show is nearing critical mass. What I've liked about both of them is the sense that they wanted a show better than what it has become. Maybe some show prep, maybe lining up a few relevant guests, maybe realizing that with a little forethought they can have some loose structure and still be spontaneous.
Ironically, this board and this new thread in too many ways effectively satirizes their show. A thread can now be posted days in advance and come close enough that it has a couple dozen posts before their show airs.
