My suggestion is turn around. There's really not any good food in town. Sprecher's is okay but really at its core it's just a non-chain Applebee's.

Yup. My parents are coming up and are bringing Alpine sammiches. The food at these Feis' is usually the same and very $$$$ for what you are getting. I figured if I am paying that much, might as well get something that is worth it.

Sprecher is fine. The beers are mediocre but there are a few that are tasty. There is a good breakfast place called Simple Cafe. Popeye's sucks - everyone goes there but never understand why.

Popeye's was good at one point, but I went back there last summer with a companion and it was terrible, food was lukewarm and bland and she said the salad smelled funny. YOU CAN LOOK ACROSS THE STREET AT A LAKE THO

I have been going to Lake Geneva for over 30 years and have never had a good meal at Popeye's.

I hear that vintage arcade around the corner and down the block has been removed. That's too bad. I used to love that place.

Most sucks

-If staying in the room, due to kids being a pain in the ass, Pick up Genos pizza and go back to the room
-If the Parents will watch the kids one night, Geneva chop House or Brissago (Best dining in Lake Geneva) at Grand Geneva
-Sprechers wins by default due to everything else just sucking, for the whole family.

The lady and I ate at Brissagio last year...it was mediocre at best...the piano lounge in the lobby was nice, though.

There is an Italian place a couple of blocks off the main drag downtown that was pretty good (I don't remember the name, though)

Menu is not vast, but they do have good food there. Maybe you had a bad meal, it happens there occasionally, but relative to everything else in town Average is close to 5 stars

Was the Italian restaurant Tuscan? I've been there. It's okay. Just okay. I think it's an Italian restaurant run by Greeks. Might as well just stay in Crystal Lake for that experience.

Biggie...a relative 5 star rating in Wisconsin is like a 2 everywhere else, no?

There is a really good breakfast/lunch place called The Simple Cafe. They take reservations, I believe... very good quality food there.

I would agree that Sprechers will probably do well for you.

The rest of the stuff we ate at was all tourist trappy or just bad chain food.

Took BigFan's advice over the Xmas holiday and booked a reservation at The Geneva
Chop House. Really nice steak house and good food but you'd likely only want to go
there for a special occasion. The brunch is also likely very good but can't recommend
it personally.

As a yute went up to LG often, we rented a house up there for the summer. The arcade, fudge shops, fishing, steamboat, burgers, skiing...all was awesome.

Now I go back and see a town that had nothing special, besides some really high rents and hotels.

I do think a good fast food place, would make a killing.

They have a Chicago Pizza place too, which sucks.

Lake is too crowded as well, always way too choppy, especially for the smaller rentals. "Gonna need a bigger boat!"

There's a poor man's Portillo's called Claw's up on the north side of town, off the Route 120 exit. They do well enough, but would do better if they weren't so far off the beaten path. That side of town isn't really for visitors. It's basically just warehouses and some light industry. Gotta sell those Italian beef sandwiches where the Italian beef sandwich-eaters are, guys!

And yes, Chicago Pizza is wretched. Totally undeserving of the name. Next Door Pub is just as bad. La Gustosa has like an inch of salty, goopy cheese that, without fail, divorces itself from the rest of the pizza and leaves you holding a flaccid piece of soggy cardboardish crust. Like a schmuck. The only good pizza place is Gino's East. Go figure.

We will have the trolly between Timber Ridge and the Grand Geneva where the Feis is which will be nice in case we want to go back and watch the later competitions. Pizza does sound good if we can get enough kids to have a pizza party in one of the rooms, if not I think we might head over to Gino's with her one good friend. Might try to get over to the GG for Breakfast on Sunday.
Sprecher beer is mediocre, but the kid loves their soda...best brew tour ever according to her.
