A kid can't get equally fucked up with same sex as they could with a man/woman parents.

That said, I think there is some value to instilling some traditional men/women values in a child s life.

Well, Seacrest and I were kinda on a tangent in the cost of college thread, so I thought we'd move the same sex parents discussion here rather than keep bastardizing that thread.

If everything was equal (spoiler alert: Its NOT) then a man and a woman would be ideal.

I gotcha.

Assuming for a moment that hetero relationships are normal or the norm so to speak then in some sense it is probably better for a child to have that model. On the other hand so many relationships are dysfunctional they just fuck up kids anyway.

Being a sophisicated swell, I can only speak for myself but a large group if not a majority of people are related to or know someone well who is gay and out and with whom they would have no quarrel to being a capable parent. This was less true 20 years ago primarily because less mainstream middle class gays were out of the closet.

Just like a single parent household, it probably isn't ideal but nothing that can't be solved by being mindful of the issues associated with it.

However, I don't get why people care about other people having same sex parents. So what if Timmy from school has two mommies? How does it hurt your kid?

I fall more in line with that thought. It isn't like anyone can discriminate against gays that easily like if your are a racist you can see if someone is black. If you are going about your business in society does anyone really know who is gay or not?

Ill say this. Two adults who care about the child is better than one.

The two couples I know are pretty cool. For some reason the Catholic College I went to didn't announce the birth from the 2 that went there in their quarterly magazine, like they do with most everybody else.

Also, there seems to be a lot of concern about kids asking questions. I understand some things are difficult to explain to a child, but keeping them in the dark or blissfully unaware as long as possible is probably not the best route either.

Im not going full MITC and saying talk to them like adults about all things, but I do think kids can handle a lot of things that parents are just afraid to talk about.

Just my opinion.

I don't think it's hard to explain. It's not like you have to start explaining the logistics and procedures required. Just say that some kids have two women or two men who take care of them instead of one man and one woman.

See, there's a perfect example of a Seacrest strawman.

No one is judging anyone by their worst offering.

But the fact that I even listed that some Man/Woman couples are inept parents, has bothered Seacrest to the point where he is trying to act like I ripped traditional couples in general.

Anyone with a brain who is reading can see I did not do that.

Again, Two loving parents are better than one. That is my position, regardless of gender.
