I know the movie didn't get great reviews and it seems like it's not very much appreciated, but I thought it was a good movie.

To get back to the theme here though....I think the Score (B&B) afternoon personalities have always been more negative than positive and neither particularly likes Hockey. Could it be that with the Hawks off to their historically great start and the Bulls fading into oblivion, there is a sense of resentment? The sport that Beerstain knows better is becoming irrelevant, while the sport he is most ignorant about has become the focus of the town.

I don't know if he is most ignorant of hockey. His kid plays and that tends to increase both knowledge of the sport and interest in the pro game. I think Dan has a decent but superficial knowledge of the top four sports. Baseball might be his least knowledgeable area and why he relies so heavily on the analysis of others. Notice how rarely he gets into the nuts and bolts of the game like he tries to do with other sports.

Mac wanted the Bears to lose every game last season so Lovie would be fired. Does it get any more negative than that?

I see that as a bigger accomplishment quite frankly because they had to actually win every game. there were no ties (3 of which were lost in shootouts) involved. As much as I applaude the Hawks outstanding start to this season, it's not at that level. Also, that streak was far from the real story in the movie. It's about the way a team is put together. The manner in which Beane and his assistants used statistical analysis to design a team in a way never before done. And then succeed with that alternative design. It revolutionized the game. Whether teams use the same model, or have integrated the use of those statistics in the manner in which they evaluate players/teams, almost every team scouts differently today because of the success Beane has had.

Steve, would you say that a 16 game win streak is a greater accomplishment in Football than in Hockey?

Not really. in Football, a team has just one game per week. In hockey (especially in this year's condensed schedule) they may have 3-4 games to play in a week. It's physically more demanding and there is gonna be more travel involved for the Hockey team as well. But again, the Hawks have not won 16, much less 19 games. they have won 16 (including a couple overtime/shootout wins) and had 3 ties that ended in shootout losses. It's still an historically outstanding start to a season. Hopefully, they will keep it going and eclipse the Flyers 35 game streak without a regulation loss and go on to win another Cup.
