Syrians and Lebanese are Arabs, I'm pretty sure. It's the Assyrians, a/k/a Syriacs, a/k/a Chaldeans, that aren't considered Arabs.

Also, there are lots of Middle Easterners in southeastern Michigan. It's inevitable that more and more will take up hockey. I would expect a fair deal of them in the NHL in a few years.

Well, I think the reason the college coaches are the focus is simply because they are around and the best players spend one or two years max. It really doesn't require a white paper.

And I can't understand why bernstein finds his fetishization of CBA and NBA coaches so much more palatable than Dickie V. screaming about "THE GENERAL!!!!! ROBERT MONTGOMERY KNIGHT!!!!!" It seems to me that it's pretty humiliating to have your entire future controlled by a couple highly paid divas who barely scored 800 on the SAT even if they do "drink coffee and open mail" just like regular, read: white, businessmen. Maybe danny sees nobility in navigating those waters. I don't.

I'm sure he is, but his role is to be a mouthpiece for coaches and coaches know this and do things to get on his good side. Pay attention to that the next time you are watching a Vitale broadcast. You can tell which coaches attend his charity events and talk more with him.

I just think its great how much the guy seems to love life and love almost all people he comes across.

It's classic projection. Dan is neurotic and harried and likes basketball. If it can be said that the guys who actually coach pro basketball teams are also neurotic and harried, then there's no reason that he couldn't have been an NBA coach, in theory.

And oh man the vaunted Thibodeau drop just not coming up was so great. That was the proverbial fart in church.

I had these two assclowns on as I was about to take my midday nap. As I fell asleep,Dan was reading some elitist article from some odd-ball web site about college coaches.The article read like the author was dissecting the friggin' atom. Terry was asked for a synopsis and he sounded like he was hemming and hawin' as usual when he talks out of his ass. When I woke up 90 minutes later,they were still talking the same crap. It made for some of the worst sports talk I have ever heard in my life. I know it's February but C'mon!
