The offense is a legit concern. They need to hit HRs, but they also need to be able to get a guy in from 3rd with less than 2 outs.

The top of the order should do just fine. I am scared about the bottom when Viciedo, Ramirez, Flowers and Beckham let even the shittiest of pitchers get on a roll by striking out the side.

I am kind of serious when I say that Gillaspie proving himself to an adequate everyday 3B is a key. If he can follow his OBP from the minors, he would be able to break up the low OBP/high strikeout count of those other guys and be a person on base when one of them hits their home run. The left handed hitting is also important.

If Gillaspie or Morel can hit more than Beckham, I don't see how you don't use that guy at third with Keppinger at second. This has to be it for Beckham. Yeah his defense is nice, but it's a luxury for a team that's probably going to struggle to score runs. You have to get more than .650 OPS out of that spot.

Yep. This is the last chance for Beckham with the Sox. They have some guy in the minors who is set ot take over 2B next year and Beckham's production (other than HR) would be nearly impossible not to exceed.

But, if Gillaspie can play, I'd still like Keppinger to be a guy who is playing everywhere rather than set at any position.

I would like to see Carlos Sanchez play SS this year at triple A. Alexei is the one who needs to be put on notice. He's going to be really expensive the next few years (13: $7M, 14: $9.5M, 15: $10M) and a .265/.287/.364 line just isn't going to cut it for that kind of money.

He's got good enough feet and a strong enough arm to play a creditable short as a backup. He's probably the best third baseman they have defensively. I think the Sox probably hope that flash at the end of 2011 is the real Morel and he can be an everyday player and the only think holding him back is injuries.
